50 Shades of Sunday~ The New Black Purple Haze

Disclaimer: For those of you new to my blog, this series is a way for me to wear a polish, in my collection, that for whatever reason I have never worn before. Sadly there are quite a few polishes which would fit the bill. Each Sunday I will wear a polish for a couple of days at least, to give a good test run. Sometimes they make it 2 days,👍 sometimes they don’t.👎.

This Sunday I am wearing The New Black. This group is called Haze or Purple Haze. The New Black is a company that puts outs out these little kits of corresponding colors. The idea is to wear them as shown, a different color on each nail. The kits are available at Nordstrm for $22, for this set. The New Black puts out sets of duos, blue/green, pink/orange, they make a typography set: to get the look of newsprint on your nails. They have more 5 piece sets of different colors, I love the turquoise one and of course the pink one. At the time I bought this set I had no purple polish.

Now I have lots of purple polish, but I still like this set. When I first got it I did one of my half and half manicures with the 2 medium purples. This is the first time I’ve used all 5 colors. I like all of them, except the thumb color.

This color to me is blue and does not go with the other purple. The other thing I’m not crazy about is the pinky color is almost a metallic, which it’s very pretty, but the rest of the colors are straight up cream. I would have liked it better if they would have made this color cream, or made the other colors almost metallic. Its hard to see in the photo but I notice in real life.

I like the formula of The New Black. Complete coverage in 2 coats, I could have gotten by with 1 coat in the darker colors, no VNL, so yea, nice formula. For little bottles the brush did not seem extra little, as often times is the case. The brush was fine, easy to work with. I’ve had this on since yesterday afternoon. I am also testing out top coats. (Get ready for Seche-Vite~Poshe Smackdown!) so I have been paying attention to the tip wear and looking for chips, so far okay.

This is my beautiful Mom, Jeanie. She really liked this polish and the different colors so I am painting her nails today with this set. I just painted her nails Monday or Tuesday and she usually goes about 10 days between mani’s, but she said she doesn’t really like the color she has on so I am going to change it for her today. I will post a pic when I’m done. 😄
