NOTD: CHANEL Quartz and Review

Posted on: September 1, 2012

This is CHANEL Quartz. I love this polish, which is unusual for me because I don’t usually like frost finishes, and this is a frost finish. I think this may be the perfect polish. It is a neutral, yet it has a ton of interest.
One of the reasons I look to CHANEL for nail polish colors is because they seem to set the trend for upcoming seasons. This polish, Quartz was the first “greige” to be introduced into the nail polish market. Released with the Fall 2011 CHANEL collection, which included Graphite and Peridot, Quartz was an instant hit. I have spent the last year looking for CHANEL dupes, Quartz is one that I have not been able to find a dead on dupe for. I have a couple that are close, very close, but not dead on. Graphite and Peridot have been duped to death, literally as Peridot has been dis-continued by CHANEL.

On the nail wheel from left to right, Quartz, Heather from Julep, Cords from China Glaze and an Orly that was not even close. Heather and Cords are very close to Quartz but both are just a tinge more purple/blue than Quartz. When I say just a tinge, I mean just barely different. The pictures may look the same but in person, there is the tiniest bit of difference.
๐Ÿ’…I think this could be the perfect polish, even with the frost finish. I really like this polish, I don’t ‘love’ it, only because of the dreaded VNL. You can see the VNL in the picture because in the picture I have only 2 coats. This polish needs 3 coats, maybe a little more than that. (whenever I review a polish, I always do 2 coats)

This is a beautiful polish and I give it ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ out of 5.
If you want to know what’s coming up for Fall/Winter 2012, just look to CHANEL. Early this spring CHANEL announced a new color, there was a lot of fanfare prior to the announcement and when the new color was announced, it was Beige. Yes, beige. But if you look at the fall collections it is all about beige. Butter London, Venique, Zoya, OPI, Dior, YSL are all highlighting beige. Beige and dark maroon. We’ll see, but that’s what I think this fall and winter will be about.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by. ๐Ÿ˜„

Thanks so much for this Judi.I still don’t know if I should buy it.I need to look at it in person.Just one question, would you buy this again if it became lost?It does look beautiful on your nails. You know that Make-up tag, “If all my make-up was lost, what would I buy again?” Maybe you could do that for nail polish.xo Linda

As much as I love my few CHANEL polishes I own, 3 to be exact, I would not buy this again. I keep looking at the swatches of Heather from Julep and Cords from CG and at night under the light they look exact, it’s just in daylight there is a slight difference, so I can’t call them dead on dupes. But for the difference in price I would go with the others. Thanks for asking. Xoxo

Betty’s Blog

I have been a busy dog because my Mom has this new seizure disorder and its up to me to keep her home when she needs to. I also let her know when it's time to take me for my walk, my neighbors like me too.
My mom won't let me leave the yard but the other day I had to wake mom up and take her outside so she could call 911 for the neighbor lady who was having a heart attack. The firemen tried to take me with them but my mom, and I,, both said no.
It's starting to warm up and we have lots of birds and squirrels,. My mom doesn't like me chasing the squirrels, or the birds because we have a nest in one of the trees. She said we have to be quiet. Maybe I can send you a pic of the baby birds? I'll try.
Have a happy spring, my mom and are going to!
Love, Betty
