50 Shades of Sunday ~ Sally Hansen Extreme Twisted Pink

Posted on: October 7, 2012

For those of you new to my blog, welcome! This is a series I do every Sunday. It’s where I use a polish from my collection that I have never worn, for whatever reason. It’s a way for me to use my polish, not just look at it, but wear it. I hope this inspires you to take a look at your collection and maybe wear one you haven’t. You’d be surprised at the gem you might find!

This Sunday I am wearing Twisted Pink from Sally Hansen Extreme line. I love this color! I bought this a few months back and I’ve never worn it. I originally was going to send to my friend Nicky who lives in Ireland🇮🇹, we do swaps back and forth. But then she sent me a list of the SH Extremes she wanted and this one wasn’t on the list, so I’ve had it ever since.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as you all know and this is a perfect color for this great cause sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The ACS is a great resource, not only for those afflicted with cancer but also for their families. If someone in your family is suffering, please reach out to the ACS for help. Even if no one in your family is suffering you can contact the ACS to see what volunteers are needed for the different fund raisers ongoing, but especially during the month of October. I am participating in the Relay for Life in our community. Since Friday night at 5 pm someone from our community has been walking on the track at the high school. Walking will continue until Sunday at 7pm. Donations have been pledged at a per mile basis, it is a major fund raiser but it is also a lot of fun to participate in. The infield of the football field has been taken over by vendors providing food, drinks, snacks and all kinds of treats for the walkers and the workers. This is why I have on my Fight for the Cure Tee shirt in these pictures. And look how great my polish matches! 💅

This polish is a cream pink with a tiny bit of sparkle. I was hoping you could see the sparkle on the brush but I know my camera is not the best. I think the tiny bit of sparkle is why they call it Twisted Pink. This polish, although a gorgeous color, is kind of a pain in the butt to apply. I am used to painting 2 thin coats, but this polish, like the Pacific Blue from the same line, does better by just going for it and doing 1 thick coat, and then wait for it to dry. Be careful of pooling on the sides though. Once finished it is a very pretty manicure and I think this is the perfect color for the month of October. This polish received 2/5 stars in my comparison by brand study. 🌟🌟

I cannot write about October being Breast Cancer Awareness month without thinking about my beautiful friend Kathy, who lost her battle with cancer. Kathy beat breast cancer. She beat the shit out of it, several years ago.. But then this past March, she wasn’t feeling too good and went to the ER, on a Sunday night. On Tuesday they told her to get her affairs in order that she was dying and there was not a thing to be done. She had a very rare form of cancer. The Doctors all told her she would not live to see the 4th of July. But she did. She passed away July 5th. 👼

This is her with all her ‘boys’, she was never as happy as when she had all her boys together. She was always smiling, happy, and one of the nicest people you would ever meet. Over 500 people attended her funeral. It was really something. She was really something. Something special. If you go back and read my earlier posts about Kathy you will learn she was my ex-husbands fiancé. They bought a house together, and were very happy. She was the love of his life. Many people can not understand the friendship her and I shared. I guess one of us was supposed to be jealous or? I don’t know what. My marriage did not work out, but that doesn’t mean I think my ex-husband is an a hole and I hate him, to me that seems silly. He is the father of my children and for that alone I will always love him. Kathy cared deeply for my kids and for that alone I will always love her. She was an important part of their lives. The last time I saw Kathy, she was in the hospital about a week before she passed. I hugged her good bye and told her I love you. She told me I love you. As I was leaving the room she said Hey, I meant what I said! I kinda giggled and I said I meant what I said too! The people in the room probably had a hard time wrapping that around their heads but I do love her and I know she loved me. Crazy as it sounds. But who ever said our lives would be free from such craziness? I for one am glad mine isn’t!
💗 Once again, if you have any questions about cancer, symptoms, treatment, what to expect from a mammogram, etc, please. go the ACS website and educate yourself, not only for you but for your family.💗💗

As always, thanks for stopping by. To my beautiful friend Lori, who is having an operation this week, I may not be there with you physically but I am there in spirit. I know you are Jewish but I hope you don’t mind this Catholic girl saying a rosary for you! I’ll be thinking of you. 😘

That pink is so cute! And I hope your friend will be well!

What a beautiful tribute to your friend, Kathy! ❤ I, too am a nail polish junkie and the other day I must've swatched 6 different pinks trying to pick one to wear, but to no avail. I actually have this Sally Hansen polish (as well as Pink Boa…have NO idea why I have BOTH!) but have never worn it, so I'm going to give it a try! You're so sweet to mention Lori! I am a subbie to her on YT (I'm "librogeek") and am so excited for this journey she's about to start!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Lovely color!
Sad that you lost a wonderful friend!
Hope Lori’s operation goes well!

E-bates.com is Money in the Bank!

Each store has a cash back percentage, some more, some less. In 2015 my cash back amount was $138. I didn't do a lot of shopping because of, well you know. Try it, and please use my link because yes I do get a part of that back. I promise it will all go back into my blog to purchase nail polish lipstick and other items to review for you. Betty’s Blog

I have been a busy dog because my Mom has this new seizure disorder and its up to me to keep her home when she needs to. I also let her know when it's time to take me for my walk, my neighbors like me too.
My mom won't let me leave the yard but the other day I had to wake mom up and take her outside so she could call 911 for the neighbor lady who was having a heart attack. The firemen tried to take me with them but my mom, and I,, both said no.
It's starting to warm up and we have lots of birds and squirrels,. My mom doesn't like me chasing the squirrels, or the birds because we have a nest in one of the trees. She said we have to be quiet. Maybe I can send you a pic of the baby birds? I'll try.
Have a happy spring, my mom and are going to!
Love, Betty
