NOTD: On the Beach by Deborah Lippmann

Posted on: December 5, 2012

On the Beach by Deborah Lippmann. This was released by DL in the Spring of 2012, along with Mermaid’s Dream. Mermaid’s Dream became an instant hit, was immediately sold out everywhere, but On the Beach was always there, waiting for some of us to take him home.
Recently Nordstrom had an incredible sale on nail polish, which I took advantage of and bought these 2 polishes.
On the Beach is a gorgeous turquoise cream. I had full coverage with 2thin coats, probably could have with 1 coat. The formula, bottle and brush for DL polish is amazing and I think worth the price, when they are on sale.. The only weird thing is I have a strange wrinkling of On the Beach. I painted my nails last night and before I went to bed I noticed this odd wrinkling effect. I took off the polish and re-painted this morning. I thought it was my Seche-Vite topcoat. I’d added Restore to the SV, so I thought it was causing major wrinkling. But, I painted my nails again this morning, no top coat, and Yes, they are wrinkled like the old lady at the fair! Don’t ask me what that means, but they are wrinkled.
I tried to get a picture but it’s so dark and dreary here, no luck in that department. I did add an accent with the Mermaid’s Dream.

I like this combination. If you look closely on my ring and middle finger you can see the beginnings of the wrinkles.
Other than the wrinkles, I really like this polish. I’m going to dink around with it some more, maybe it needs 3 really thin coats and to dry fully between coats, like most CHANEL polishes? Or maybe I need to do 1heavy coat? I don’t know, but I’ll figure it out because I really do like this polish and I’m loving this color.
💅 As always, thanks for stopping by.

It looks so pretty,I wonder what that wrinkling thing is all about?Very strange indeed! How does the colour compare to some of your other favorite blues and turquoise ?

Oooh my goooodness!! What a gorgeous combo that is! It’s so funny that you post this now because I was in the mood for blues, but went with red instead. Urban Outfitters supposedly has a dupe for the DL Mermaid’s Dream, but I haven’t gone to see it in person. Maybe I should do that!! I’m LOVING your mani!! ❤

I love this blue, I’m thinking the wrinkles could be from the base coat I used, Julep, usually I don’t use base coat. Only on blue and red polish. I found a pretty blue from Model’s Own, I’ll post a pic later.
thanks Linda

Thanks Lu and I’m loving your red! Gorgeous! I wonder if the LE Revlon Orient Express is comparable to the one you have on? They look very familiar.
Let me know if you find the dupe at Urban Outfitters. thanks so much Lu

Betty’s Blog

I have been a busy dog because my Mom has this new seizure disorder and its up to me to keep her home when she needs to. I also let her know when it's time to take me for my walk, my neighbors like me too.
My mom won't let me leave the yard but the other day I had to wake mom up and take her outside so she could call 911 for the neighbor lady who was having a heart attack. The firemen tried to take me with them but my mom, and I,, both said no.
It's starting to warm up and we have lots of birds and squirrels,. My mom doesn't like me chasing the squirrels, or the birds because we have a nest in one of the trees. She said we have to be quiet. Maybe I can send you a pic of the baby birds? I'll try.
Have a happy spring, my mom and are going to!
Love, Betty
