Revlon Girly. I picked this up at Walmart the other night, only because there is a buzz about this polish and a lot of people have a hard time finding it. Which kind of cracks me up because it is everywhere I go. I have also received a ton of your emails asking about this polish and if it is a dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Candy Shop. I haven’t seen Candy Shop in person but I can tell you just from the online swatches, this is not a dupe for Candy Shop. They are very similar but the DL polish has more colors of glitter, red, orange, green, turquoise, yellow, pink, white; along with different glitter shapes and sizes. Revlon Girly is a pink gel base with hot pink, navy blue, golden copper-y and silver glitters, depending on the light different colors show up. Which is part of the fun of glitter polish, right?

20130227-104428.jpg
I have 2 coats of Girly over the Anna Sui polish I showed in yesterday’s post. I’m trying to extend the life of this manicure as the Anna Sui polish showed tip wear right away. I think these look nice together.

20130227-104701.jpg
On the left is Girly by itself, 2 coats. On the right is what I’m wearing. As you all know I do not like the dreaded VNL, so I would always wear this polish over another. But if you like sheer polish, I think it does give a good bit of coverage.

20130227-105005.jpg
I do like this, which is so unusual for me? I am really liking glitter polish here lately. Also, today is my brother’s birthday so I thought this would be a festive polish for his birthday lunch!

20130227-105133.jpg
Happy Birthday Jim!. My oldest brother is on the left, he is next to Bill, my niece Barbie’s fiancΓ©. My brother is an amazing guy who I love very much. He used to be a jockey, he was 6th in the nation when he was 17 years old. He lives about 45 minutes from here on 5 acres in the woods. He has deer, elk, and turkeys in his yard all the time. He raises racing pigeons and has a pigeon loft. When Jim gets “into” something, he is in all the way, which is one of the things I love about him. He is a great father to Barbie, Jami and Mickey. He has a beautiful wife Tammy. He has worked for the same company since 1979, but today he turns 62. Isn’t that the age you are supposed to retire?

20130227-110819.jpg
My brother Jim has the best memory of anyone I know. He tells stories of when we were little and I’m like where was I? He says I was there but I don’t remember so it’s good to have him around, if for nothing else, than his stories. We had a lot of fun when we were kids.
Happy Birthday Jim!

Anna Sui, Nail Enamel N. Anna Sui is a Japanese cosmetics company with some of the cutest packaging going. I bought this strictly because of the bottle. It has to be the cutest nail polish bottle ever! Anna Sui Cosmetics are an offshoot of Anna Sui designs. Her clothes can be found at all the high end department stores. The cosmetics seem to cater to the very young girl, lots of bright eyeshadows and sparkle-y lip gloss.
This polish was nice and easy to apply, this is 3 coats, 1 coat of Seche-Vite and 1coat of Julep’s “Freedom” polymer topcoat. Even with all this, less than 24 hours later, major tip wear is showing.

20130226-193328.jpg
The formula is easy to work with, no bubbles or streaks. The brush is a small wide, flat brush that had some wonky hairs and needed a haircut, but worked great after the haircut, picked up just the right amount of polish. While applying this polish, it has a seriously strong odor. Even when dry, and 24 hours later it still has an odor. It is supposed to dry with a pleasant scent of tea roses. It is not pleasant to me. Still, with all these issues I adore this polish and the bottle is too cute to put away so I leave it out on my vanity top.

20130226-193523.jpg
Ann Sui cosmetics can be purchased here $20-22

What do you think? Cutest bottle ever?

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by.

I found myself at Walmart the other night and was pleased to find some Flower Cosmetics by Drew Barrymore.
(Click on any picture to enlarge)

20130225-180646.jpg
I bought these 6 nail polishes from her collection. This picture is an accurate depiction of the colors except for the 2 green ones, Thistle or That? And Good Bud-dy. I could not, for the life of me get those colors corrected. I don’t know why because all the other colors are right on the mark.

20130225-180841.jpg
Thistle or That? This is an accurate depiction of the color. Out of all the polishes, this one was the one I did 2 coats of, to cover the streaks. Once the 2nd coat was applied, it was fine, no streaks, no issues at all.

20130225-181025.jpg
Good Bud-dy This is also a more accurate depiction of the color, it is a bit more green than the picture shows. This is 1 coat, applies like a dream, dries fast, I really like the formula of this brand by Drew Barrymore.
(I hope you can see from these 2 pictures the color and how in the top picture they are nothing like their true colors. I hope this makes sense?)

20130225-181632.jpg
Go With the Flow-er This is one coat, no top coat. I love the coverage of this formula, no VNL (visible nail line).

20130225-181752.jpg
April Showers Again, 1 coat, no VNL, applies like a dream.

20130225-181826.jpg
May Flowers I like this dusty pink, again only 1 coat needed. Applies great, dries great, all in all, a good formula.

20130225-181940.jpg
Cosmo-politan from Flower. I wrote a post on this polish here. This is definetly my favorite of the bunch and may be one of my Top 5 favorites of all time. As I said in my earlier post, this pink is what I wanted all those other pinks I’ve bought to be.
I am thoroughly impressed with this polish. The formula is great, applies perfectly and priced at $4.99 for a .4 oz bottle, it’s a bargain. However, I do have issues. Not big issues, but issues nonetheless. I do not like that this line is available only at Walmart. I don’t go to Walmart, that was the second time I’d been in this particular store. You can get the line at Walmart.com if you are like me and do not go in the stores. I did go to their website to look at the other colors in the line, 16 colors total, and they were out of stock on most of them. All the colors I bought were out of stock online.

20130225-184318.jpg

20130225-184414.jpg
I also bought a lipstick (kiss stick) in Flamingo Flower, swatched on the left. And I bought a Sheer Up Lint Tint in Airy Orchid, swatched on the right. I haven’t had a chance to use these a lot, but what I have tried so far I like. The lipstick goes on rather dry but does not leave my lips feeling dry and also lasts a good long time. The same can be said for the lip tint. It went on rather dry, which surprised me, I thought it would be more like the Tarte Lip Surgence, but the lip tint is nothing like the lip surgence. The color also lasted a good long time. After 3 hours and eating lunch, I went to re-apply the lipstick, and found I didn’t need to. I just added a lip gloss and was fine the rest of the afternoon.
Flower Cosmetics by Drew Barrymore are Made in the USA and they never do animal testing. The lipstick does list propylparaben as an ingredient. 😨

20130225-190634.jpg
Jilly’s FOTD. She sent me this picture and said she had on the Flower lipstick she bought, the Sally Hansen Pacific Blue I made her buy, the CHANEL blush and Dot perfume I gave her and that is why she is so beautiful today. I think she is beautiful everyday. I love my daughter, so much!.

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by.

20130225-020529.jpg
Cosmo-Politan from Flower, Drew Barrymore’s cosmetic company.
This is what all the other bright pink polishes I’ve ever bought should have been like. I love this polish. This is 2 coats, went on like a dream, no visible nail line, I did not use a base coat for coverage, and the shimmer transfers to the nail. I’m not sure yet, but this may have a spot in My Top 5 Favorites, Top 10 for sure.

20130225-021016.jpg
I bought these 6 colors from the line. They have a total of 16 colors and if I could I would buy all 16. I am excited to get these all swatched and posted on here. I think you will really like this polish.
πŸ‘Ώ The only bad thing is these are only sold at Walmart. I don’t go to Walmart. Jilly and I were going to Costco after dinner the other night and Costco was closed, who knew they close so early on a Saturday night? Next door is Walmart, so that is how I found myself at Walmart. I also bought a NYC polish and a new Revlon called Girlie.

20130225-021526.jpg
And yes, I broke my Lenten challenge to not purchase any more nail polish for 40 days.. I lasted what? 12-13 days? I seriously need some sort of rehab. If you remember I made it the full 40 days last year. But now for the rest of Lent I am giving up Pepsi. Dang. This is going to be the hardest thing for me to give up, I like my Pepsi, one a day, a 20oz bottle. Dang.

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by.

This is my week 7 for The Nail Polish Lottery Club. For those of you who don’t know about the #NPLClub I will leave all the details at the end of this post. 😊

20130224-012521.jpg
Quo by Orly Chestnuts Roasting was #82 on my list. Yes, 82 was the number picked by random.org for Week 7 of the Nail Polish Lottery Club. This polish is an absolute dream. I love it. I especially love this polish because it was sent to me by my friend Diane, her You Tube channel is Catwmagick and she is a doll! She sent me this polish and 2 more, which I will show you in a bit.

20130224-012907.jpg
Chestnuts Roasting is a light brown, cream finish polish. I think it looks very nice with my skin tone, and I don’t think it gives me mannequin hands at all. What do you think? I would totally wear this polish for a job interview and would not feel a bit self conscious about my nails. This polish applies like a dream. The brush is just the right size, the bottle is very stable, the topper is rubberized so you can hold on to it just fine, all in all, I love this polish. I guess I already said that. I would definetly give this polish 🌟🌟🌟🌟 4 stars. Does that surprise you? The only reason I took a star away is because of availability. I do not know where to buy this polish. Which is probably just as well, but I have never seen it for sale at any stores. It is not at my Sally’s which is where Orly is sold in my town. A quick search on the Internet tells me this is a Shopper’s Drug Mart exclusive brand. Shopper’s Drug Mart is located in Canada. Quo is a full line of high quality cosmetics. Go Canada!!πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

20130224-015539.jpg
Coffee and Cream & Wine and Dine (red) are the other 2 polishes by Quo Diane sent to me. For Thanksgiving this year I wore the Coffee and Cream with the red on my ring finger on my left hand and the red on my pointer finger on my right hand. One of my most favorite manicures.
Canada is lucky they have this brand all to themselves, which I know they miss out on a lot so, good for them. Good on ya! As my Dad would say. I did a quick search of amazon.com and I did not find it there either. I did not check eBay but that might be a place where you could find it. If you do come across it and wonder if it’s good, it’s good. πŸ‘

20130224-020110.jpg
The Nail Polish Lottery Club was the brain child of my friend Diana. She came up with the idea of using random.org to pick a number and that will be the number of nail polish we will use. The first thing I did was to make a numbered list of my un-tried nail polish. I already had a list of “my stash” for this blog so I worked from that list and it was no big deal. So, once I had my list, and I had my number, along with the others who joined in with us, Diana went to random.org and chose a number. The first number drawn was 179. I don’t have 179 un-tried polishes, so I added 1+7+9=17, so I used number 17 on my list for week 1. Every Monday at 8pm, London time, Diana picks a new lucky number. The fun part is we all use the same number but we all have different colors. We have a Facebook page and members post their weekly pictures there. You can post your pics anytime during the week, or even the following week, depending on your schedule. We are very easy to get along with. If you go to the Facebook page you will see a link that will take you to the guidelines set out by the club.
One quick note about my list, I did not include any glitters, top coats, or ones I call shade shifters. I only included the polish I would wear on all 10 fingers on my list. For a while I did not have any mini’s listed, but I have since added them. Also, I have my list organized by brand, and alphabetized by brand. You can do your list however you want. Some people do their list by colors, by finish, etc…
The Nail Polish Lottery Club has been a lot of fun for me, I cannot tell you how excited I get waiting for the new number every week!!!
Even if you don’t join in with us officially, I hope this project of me wearing my un-tried polish will inspire you to wear a polish from your collection that you haven’t worn yet. You never know, you might find a gem like I did with this Quo by Orly Chestnuts Roasting

These are my top 5 picks for right now, and for moving forward into Spring. You know I promised not to whine about Spring until Lent, so now that Lent is here I am wishing for some Spring, any day now would be good!
1⃣On my thumb I have from Color Club Winter Affair. I got this at Sally’s for $1.99 and I love it. I never thought I would love gold nail polish but thanks to MissHollyberries she got me to thinking about gold nail polish and it is stunning. Not only as an accent nail but on all 10. Thanks for that Holly!

2⃣On my pointer finger I have from butter LONDON Two Fingered Salute. I believe this was a Nordstrom exclusive but you can find it on butter LONDON’s website as well as here
This is a muted turquoise with a pink copper shimmer you have to see to believe. The shimmer definitely transfers to the nail. Love this polish, for this time of year and any time of year!

3⃣On my middle finger from OPI Koala Bear-y. This is a basic Barbie-ish pink that every girl needs now and then. This is a great time of year for this color, not too bright but just bright enough to remind us, it won’t be long and all the flowers will be in bloom and we can welcome Spring with open arms! You can find Koala Bear-y where ever OPI is sold, and don’t forget I can get any OPI for you. 😘

4⃣On my ring finger from Wet n Wild, the Fergie collection Miami Spirit. This is a bright turquoise blue in the bottle with a slight shimmer but it fell flat on my nails. This isn’t necessarily a recommendation for this polish, more for the color. I was disappointed in the polish, like I said in my video, I checked the bottle to make sure it wasn’t supposed to be a matte finish. Once the top coat was on it was better. You can find the Fergie collection wherever Wet n Wild is sold, which is most drug stores. I bought mine at Walgreen’s.

And 5⃣On my pinky from Revlon After Party. These were released last fall as part of the Gucci Westman collection for Revlon. I love this muted blue-green color for now and for always.

To see my You Tube video, there may be a bit of a surprise πŸŽ‰ at the end, go here

I put a bit of thought into these picks, but really, you can wear any color, any time
I have no problem with wearing OPI Russian Navy in the middle of the summer just as I have no problem wearing Essie Play Date in December. These are just some suggestions and some of the polishes I’ll be wearing in the next few weeks while we wait for the warmer weather. But I just wanted to make clear I don’t believe in any rules when it comes to polish. The whole idea of polish and why I collect it, is to wear what makes me happy. As silly as it may sound, my nail polish does make me happy, not happy like a warm spring day, but pretty darn close!

20130221-113137.jpg
Drew from Julep. Yes, the only reason I bought this polish is because it has the same name as my son, Drew. Who, just had a birthday and turned 28 on the 19th.

20130221-113250.jpg
This is him with his Dad. We were at his favorite restaurant for his birthday dinner. It was a fun night, even though my dinner wasn’t very good. I never know what to order in Chinese restaurants. I always know I can get a glass of Chardonnay, so that helps. Oh well, we still all had a good time.

20130221-113428.jpg
My friend Jud, with his baby Jack.

20130221-113454.jpg
Ashley and Grandpa.

20130221-113521.jpg
Drew and Danielle.

20130221-113542.jpg
So back to the polish. I have always said no one does a better cream finish polish than Julep. It’s just too bad about all the other bullshit, I won’t get into here.
This is a pretty color for all year round and I’m sure I will wear every last .27 ounces of it. It’s also pretty with a matte top coat.

20130221-113919.jpg
I plan on wearing this a few days, until I do my nails for the Nail Polish Lottery Club, Week #7. Which will be in a couple of days. This weeks number is 82.
I have a confession to make. I’ve messed up my spreadsheet something awful. I am going to my parents to use their computer to see if I can fix it so it is proper again. I’ll keep you posted.
Did you know I have 2 nail polishes with the name Drew? The other one is from Zoya and it is in my Top 5 favorites.

20130221-114205.jpg
No matter how you shake it, I like the name Drew!!

20130221-114249.jpg
And no matter what, I love my boy, Drew.
