Sally Hansen Gel Strips Test Drive ~ Day 4 aannndd Done!

Posted on: March 15, 2013

I think the picture says it all. This was day 4 but the problem really started day 2 with the strips beginning to lift from the edges of my cuticle. It only got worse the more I washed dishes, cleaned house, folded laundry, etc….. You know the stuff we do every day. I suppose if I was a real beauty queen with nothing to do, these would have worked fine. But I’m not and these didn’t.

This box of Salon Insta Gel Strips contains 16 gel Polosh strips, .14 fl oz Gel Top Coat, 2 nail cleanser pads, cuticle stick, file and buffer for a cost of $14.99. The claim on the box is 2 Easy Steps up to 2 Weeks Wear, chip resistant ~ Mirror Shine. (I had a chip in the first 24 hours.) I give these zero/5. For me they were a complete and utter fail.

💅 Anyone who reads this blog or watches my You Tube videos knows I love Sally Hansen products, usually this one I do not love or even like. I don’t even have a crush on it. I think it is over-priced and a complete waste of time and money. But the thing is, and I’m sure you’ve all noticed, when shopping for Sally Hansen products these gel strips are everywhere! They are making such a push for them and I wish they would get back to what they do best, great nail polish at an affordable price. Initially I was so happy to see my beloved Commander in Chic was one of the color choices, after taking the gel strips for a test drive I am embarrassed for my CiC. 😡

Maybe you have had better luck than me, if so, please let me know about your experience with the gel strips from Sally Hansen or any other company. I’d love to hear your results.

💅 As always, thanks for stopping by.

Hi Judi – I’m not into the gel polish. I think the word is out that nail polish can be lucrative in this lousy economy. I totally agree with you- Sally Hansen should stick to making affordable polish – and some of the more expensive brands should lower their prices. I noticed that Barielle is having free shipping all weekend long – I don’t think there is any minimum order amount – if you are interested – http://www.barielle.com/
their polishes are $8 a bottle – I’m tempted to try one. Happy St. Patty’s Day!

Thank you for the tip on Barielle, I’ve always wanted to try that brand but never have, I’ve used their lotion but not the polish. Thanks for your comment and insight into the nail polish business, I happen to agree with you. 😘 Judi

Wow! Epic fail, huh?! That’s a shame because they really looked nice on your nails! ♥ Have a wonderful weekend, Judi!

Thanks Lu! I did like these but I do not think they ,are worth the $15 for a 3 day manicure. Maybe for some special occasion if you wanted a certain design but other than that I think SH is off the mark with these. Just my opinion. Hope you have a great week end Lu. Mwahhhh

Oh my god! That’s terrible!

Yes, they were atonal waste of money, although I could see using them for a special occasion and using one of the patterns maybe. But I think they are way overpriced. I’m so disappointed, I thought I would get at least a week or ten days? I have to sto reading the claims on the packages! Ha! Thanks for the comment I die! Xoxo

I had the exact same thing happen to me.I thought what did I do wrong? I checked the box reread the directions, all good I think its just a poorly designed product. Maybe in a year or two they will remake this product call it by a different name and it will be back on the market.

I honestly do not like to give a bad review, but I have to honest about this product and it sucks! Hopefully one person will have saved their money from reading about it. I’m sorry you had the same experience, don’t you think it would be better if Sally Hansen Putin the box “just for a few days” instead of promising 2 weeks wear? Ha! Like that would ever happen!
Thanks for the comment. — Judi

Hi Judi: Just a quick update on Barielle polish -you can get them for $3 a bottle from http://www.nailsupplies.us/barielle/ You have to pay shipping, but I think this is a better deal for anyone who might be interested in trying this brand.

Thank you Judy . I just placed an order about 15 minutes ago from Barielle.com. I bought 2 bottles, it was $12 free shipping. I bought a bottle because it has the name Jillian in it, my daughters name! I don’t remebr what else I got, but thanks for the heads up. Next time I will check out this link.

Betty’s Blog

I have been a busy dog because my Mom has this new seizure disorder and its up to me to keep her home when she needs to. I also let her know when it's time to take me for my walk, my neighbors like me too.
My mom won't let me leave the yard but the other day I had to wake mom up and take her outside so she could call 911 for the neighbor lady who was having a heart attack. The firemen tried to take me with them but my mom, and I,, both said no.
It's starting to warm up and we have lots of birds and squirrels,. My mom doesn't like me chasing the squirrels, or the birds because we have a nest in one of the trees. She said we have to be quiet. Maybe I can send you a pic of the baby birds? I'll try.
Have a happy spring, my mom and are going to!
Love, Betty
