Amazing Quick Dry Topcoat Recipe ~ SV plus NYC GCS

Posted on: June 12, 2013

For the past 2+ months I have been using this quick dry top coat mixture and I am very happy with the results. I did not discover this, I read a lot of nail blogs, nail boards, generally anything to do with nails, I read about it. I wish I could remember where I first heard about this combo because I would LOVE to give them proper credit.

Here’s what I did: I had a half full bottle of Seche-Vite QD top coat that needed some Restore added to it. I have not been happy with Restore, it has not worked well for me. Yes, it thins out the SV but it also causes strange bubbles to appear out of no where and I was also getting “sheet marks” in the mornings? That never happens to me.
Then I remembered hearing about mixing NYC Grand Central Station, which is sold as a clear nail polish color with a quick dry formula. So I bought 2 bottles of the NYC Grand Central Station nail color and filled my half full bottle of SV. I turned the bottle upside down, left it that way for the night and then started using this mixture as my quick dry top coat. I could not be happier. It is like having SV being normal to the bottom of the bottle.
I have not had any “shrinkage”, I haven’t had hardly any tip wear and certainly very few chips. Again, I did not “discover” this mixture but I wanted to pass on to you. The NYC Grand Central Station can be found at most drug stores for $1.99. SV can be found at most beauty supply stores, like Sally’s and I don’t know how much it is, sorry.
I have gone through 2 full SV bottles with this mixture and I highly recommend as a quick dry top coat. if you have any questions, let me know in the comments below.

More pictures from the engagement party this past week end. This is the amazing Jack! And yes, he is the cutest baby ever born! (I got permission from his Dad before I posted this picture).

💅 As always, thanks for stopping by!

Thanks Judi: I have a half bottle of SV topcoat that needs to be thinned; I will pick up some NYC Grand Central Station and try this out! Really appreciate the fact that after you did this, you didn’t have any shrinkage. That’s one thing I don’t like about SV topcoat.

Let me know what you think of it, after you’ve tried it. Thanks, Judi

I have been using a mixture of SV that was thinned out using Restore and a cheap Sally Hansen I got in the Dollar Store.I see you are way ahead of me on this “Recipe”. I have always liked NYC for polishes and mascaras. They are a company that is overlooked IMO.Jack is very cute!Linda xo

I don’t think I have been using Restore properly because I get the weirdest bumps like days later? I don’t know I just didn’t have good luck with it, but I am loving this combo. Sounds like you’re way ahead of me on this one! Jack is a doll baby. He will the ring bearer at the wedding. 🙂 Thanks Linda

I only put a very few drops in when I use Restore.I often wonder how many times you can do that before the mixture goes ‘off’. That is why I added the SH top coat to the SV. Jack is going to be adorable in the wedding party. The only thing more handsome than a man in a suit is a little boy in a suit!

Isn’t that the truth? Thanks Linda!

Betty’s Blog

I have been a busy dog because my Mom has this new seizure disorder and its up to me to keep her home when she needs to. I also let her know when it's time to take me for my walk, my neighbors like me too.
My mom won't let me leave the yard but the other day I had to wake mom up and take her outside so she could call 911 for the neighbor lady who was having a heart attack. The firemen tried to take me with them but my mom, and I,, both said no.
It's starting to warm up and we have lots of birds and squirrels,. My mom doesn't like me chasing the squirrels, or the birds because we have a nest in one of the trees. She said we have to be quiet. Maybe I can send you a pic of the baby birds? I'll try.
Have a happy spring, my mom and are going to!
Love, Betty
