NOTD: Jack the Lad from butter LONDON ~ Holiday 2012

Posted on: October 14, 2013

This bottle of Jack the Lad nail polish from butter LONDON was sent to me as a PR sample for my review. All opinions are my own, I was not asked to write a review, I was not asked to provide them with a copy of my review prior to posting, I was not told to write a positive review. All opinions are mine and mine alone..

I’m getting quite the collection of nail polishes with family names. Jack the Lad from butter LONDON was released last fall as part of their Holiday collection. It is a perfect Holiday polish as it is an evergreen base with different colored micro glitter. When dry the polish looks and feels like glass with the specks of sparkle just under the glass. Butter LONDON is the only brand I’ve tried that can do this type of finish. It is stunning. I first became aware of this technique with their polish All Hail the Queen, that too dries like glass and has flecks of sparkle that are just stunningly beautiful.

The formula is classic butter LONDON in that it applies smoothly, the brush picks up just the right amount of polish, the formula is not too thick and not too thin. The bottle is perfectly stable. Very easy to apply. I used 2 coats for these pictures and no topcoat. I wore this polish for 3 full days and had no chips and very minor tip wear. The tip wear was due more to my changing out the light bulbs in the fixture over my sink then anything else.

If you shy away from glitter polishes because they can be hard to remove, then this is the polish for you. The removal process is just like any other polish, no special soaking, no need to wrap in tin foil. You get the best of both worlds with butter LONDON sparkle-y polishes. They are so pretty and glittery and yet they remove like a cream polish removes. I know Scouse from BL is the same way. It is a sparkle-y blue polish that is so, so pretty and so easy to remove. So don’t let that scare you away from these great polishes.
You can buy butter LONDON at Ulta, Nordstrom cosmetics department (the happiest place on earth) and you can order them from their website here.
Butter LONDON retails for $15 each but often times they have specials and if you follow them or me (@JudiT4029) on Twitter I will post when I hear of any specials for BL polishes.
I received so many compliments on this polish, more so than any other I can remember. It is a bright green in some lights and then can be more of a hunter green in other lights, but the sparkle of the micro glitter always shown through whichever light.
Butter LONDON came in #8 on my Top 10 list of Nail Polish Comparison by Brand I worked on all last summer. Using the same 5 items of criteria and trying over 40 brands, #8 is more than respectable.

If you were wondering why I categorized this as part of my Meet My Family series, this little doll baby, who just turned 3 on Sunday is why. His name is Jack. (I did ask and received permission from his Dad to use these pictures for my blog). Jack is the half brother of my girl Ashley, who you all know by now. Ashley’s Dad remarried a few years ago and now we have the cutest, sweetest, smartest little guy ever! He is such a smart boy. I’ve never known a smarter 3 year old, and that is including my own kids.

He was so happy with his Sponge Bob cake, and I must say the frosting was cream cheese and soo good. There was a bigger cake for the adults so Jack had his own cake. He wasn’t very happy being the center of attention, he didn’t like all the singing but he did like opening his presents. The helmet he is wearing was given to him by my son Drew. I thought that was a great present for him as Jack is just now learning to ride his bike.
Brings back memories for me. When Drew was little I had a seat on the back of my bike and we used to ride all over town on it. We’d go to the library, down to the river to feed the geese. All the fun things that I wish he was still little enough to go with me! But unfortunately they grow up, luckily though we have Jack, it will be so much fun watching him grow and get smarter with each passing day.

🎃 As always, thanks for stopping by!

UPDATE: I added more flowers to my “pumpkin vase”. I think it looks much better this way.

Betty’s Blog

I have been a busy dog because my Mom has this new seizure disorder and its up to me to keep her home when she needs to. I also let her know when it's time to take me for my walk, my neighbors like me too.
My mom won't let me leave the yard but the other day I had to wake mom up and take her outside so she could call 911 for the neighbor lady who was having a heart attack. The firemen tried to take me with them but my mom, and I,, both said no.
It's starting to warm up and we have lots of birds and squirrels,. My mom doesn't like me chasing the squirrels, or the birds because we have a nest in one of the trees. She said we have to be quiet. Maybe I can send you a pic of the baby birds? I'll try.
Have a happy spring, my mom and are going to!
Love, Betty
