Archive for December 2013

I knew you guys would answer the question for me. This beautiful red polish from OPI had no label. So I put it for you guys to figure out and you did good!

This most definetly is: I’m Really Not A Waitress!
I had several different color ideas and several of you told me the waitress color. I thought that’s what it was so I took to my local nail supply and compared bottles and you guys were right! I knew you would know the answer

I hope you all have a Happy Holiday season with your loved ones.

Now for Week 49 my pick is a new polish I’d just bought so I was anxious to try it anyway.

Italian Leather by Revlon Parfumerie is a pretty green with a golden shimmer. When dry it is supposed to smell like Italian Leather and it does, for a little while anyway. It smells like one of my favorite old boyfriends so I liked the smell immediately and wish it lasted a bit longer.

Italian Leather has a golden sheen and as you can see this is one that definetly transfers to the nail. This is a new line for Revlon and I wish I would have taken more pictures of the display. The display is divided into different categories of scent. There is a manly scent **ahhh, for the good ol days****, a feminine and a floral section. Italian Leather was $7.99 and comes in a .4 oz bottle. The bottle is a little square one with a ball for the topper and brush.

I had no issues with the formula, these pics are with 2 coats and no top coat. I like this polish and I’m sure ill wear it again and again, especially since it does smell, even for a minute, of a favorite boyfriend. I had a lot of boyfriends in my almost 60 years but not so many were favorites when all was said and done.

Have you seen these new displays? What do you think of them? I’d love to know!

Revlon Raisin Rage is a pretty maroon color that I think works all year round. It’s a great fall color but this is a dupe for Chanel’s April which was released S/S 2012. At first I thought CHANEL was a bit off when they released April along with May and June which were pink and apricot. But the more I thought about it and the more I wore it in the spring, it made perfect sense.

Raisin Rage is such a feminine, dressed up color and yet I feel right at home with my leggings and boots with this polish. I went on-line to see if I could find a release date for Raisin Rage but I could not, I also was curious about the name. It doesn’t look like a raisin in color and the rage part? I guess I’ll never know.
If you are into the lips matching the tips, I would bet that Revlon has a lipstick named Raisin Rage. I will check the next time I’m at the drugstore and I’ll let you know. πŸ’‹

I’ve had this bottle for well over a year and the formula was still perfect, not thick or goopy, but smooth and easy to apply with the Revlon brush that picks up just the right amount of polish for your nails. All my pictures are with 2 coats and I did use a quick dry top coat only because I had places to be, people to see….no time to wait for my polish to dry.

Raisin Rage is numbered 551 and is in their regular line of polish. I hope they never discontinue because I think it is a beautiful polish that belongs in everyone’s collection. Whether you have a large or small collection it’s a great polish to have. I took these pictures 2 days ago and my nails still look great, no chips no tip wear.

I just took this picture of Raisin Rage after 2 days. I still think it looks too pretty to remove. My Nail Polish Lottery Club posting may be later than usual.

Have you tried any of your Revlon beauties you may have forgotten about? If so, please let me know in the comments below.

Essie has put together this five piece mini set of your favorite Essie’s all for only $15. I think this is a great idea, and even though I’m not a fan of Essie myself I know a lot of people who are.
The kit contains Ballet Slippers , Chinchilly, Turqs and Caicos, Foever Yummy, and Wicked.
If you go to their website here you will see other 5 piece sets they have put together. There is a set for going out to fancy shcmancy places, there is a set for treatment of your nails. Again I think it’s a great idea and I hope some
Of my favorite brands (cough cough butter London, Sally Hansen or my new fave Marc Jacobs. A 5 piece mini set from him would be 🎢🎼 amazing 🎼 🎢

Do you plan on buying any of these adorable sets for stocking stuffers? Let me know if you do.

Barry M Nail Paints in Cappuccino and Chocolate Brown. Once again, for my favorite Barry M posts I did a half and half manicure because I couldn’t decide which one I liked best, I like them both and I think they look good together. You guys all know I’m crazy about this brand of polish. It is a UK brand, made in the UK so we know right away it’s cruelty free, which is always a plus for me. It’s available at a couple of places here in the states, the Barry M website with prices of Β£2.99-4.99 a bottle but a flat rate shipping fee to the US of Β£25 brings the per bottle cost up depending on how many bottles you order. Amazon..com usually has a limited amount of Barry M with prices starting at $10 per bottle plus shipping. Ninja Polish also carries a limited supply of Barry M along with some other great UK brands like Model’s Own.

Chocolate Brown was sent to me by my friend Carla who lives in Germany. She said she doesn’t see Barry M too often there, but I’m glad she found this Chocolate Brown one for me. The formula on this was thicker than usual and I had full coverage with 1 coat. I did use a quick dry top coat. I’ve only had it on for a day and so far no chips or any sign of tip wear, which is amazing for such a dark color.

Cappuccino is a lot like Commander in Chic without the purple undertone. I like this color a lot. The formula wasn’t as thick as Chocolate Brown but I still got great coverage with just 1 coat. Albeit a thicker coat than the other, but still just 1 coat coverage.

Thanks again to my friends in the UK who were so kind for sending me the Barry M polish I have. I’ve bought a few bottles but mostly they have come from such nice people in the UK. Thank you, Thank you!

Secret Love Enamored from Marc Jacobs is such a delight to use. This is one polish that has lived up to the hype. It goes on like a dream, complete coverage with 1 coat and stunningly beautiful colors. Secret Love is a rich, deep maroon color like I’ve never seen. Weird, right? Maroon is maroon but Secret Love is different and completely gorgeous on the nail. I had no problems with the brush this time (if you remember when I first used Evelyn the brush was in the need of a haircut when I was done). I did not use a top coat with this one. The brush is small as you can imagine just from the design of the bottle.

The top of the bottle comes off, just like a CHANEL would, or a butter LONDON, the bottle is stable and the formula a joy to use. I am in love with this formula from Marc Jacobs. I only wish I’d bought more colors. I bought my 2 at Sephora for $18. The bottle is .47 oz or 12ml. Marc Jacobs Secret Love is made in the UK, so we know this is a cruelty free product.πŸ’‹
Which makes me happy.

From the Marc Jacobs website: Get smitten with Marc’s fresh take on nail enamel, a superior polish with unprecedented finish, like 30 coats of lacquer. Highest shine with a plasticized wet look. Smooth application and a unique color range inspired by Marc’s latest runway designs. Everything completely true. Can you tell I love, love this polish?
I can see it now, I’m either going to have to marry an old rich dude, get a second job, or learn to shoplift in order to get most of the colors from this collection. I think the 3rd choice is the best, don’t you? πŸš‘ Just Kidding

I plan on wearing this a few days, and I will keep you posted on the wearability. I’ve seen reviews of chipping rather fast but we shall see. One thing I’ve learned is some polishes do that with some people and not so much with others. I hope I’m in the second category this time. I love the way my nails look and feel.
Have you tried this line yet? Please let me know what you think! I’d love to know if you are as smitten as I am!

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by!

Anemone from Borghese is a pretty pink color and I think the name matches the flower exactly. On the bottle it says it is a Rapido Fast Dry Nail Lacquer and I think if it was my company I would remove that statement because this particular bottle was no where near Rapido. I ended up using a fast dry top coat so I could go to bed last night, I was tired of waiting for these to dry. But once dry, I think they are pretty.

The formula for Anemone was a bit thin and what I would think a glaze polish would be. It has that sort of quality to it. I don’t own any glaze polishes, this is just what I think they might be like. The coverage on the first coat was very light as well as the second coat but when it was finally dry the coverage is okay. I can see a but of VNL but not so bad that I’d put on a third coat.

If not for the Nail Polish Lottery Club I would have probably never tried this one, and I like it and I’m sure ill wear it more often, especially in the spring. So thanks once again to the #NPLClub for a good pick this week!
