NOTD: OPI DS Reserve

Posted on: March 4, 2014

Ds Reserve from OPI is described by OPI as being formulated with actual diamond dust therefore making this line of theirs more shiny and more durable than the regular OPI. I’m not sure if that bodes well for the regular line?
DS Reserve is definetly shiny and it wore well. BTW, DS stands for Designer Series. I wore this for a good 3 days with no problems. It is very shiny and sparkle-y. It looks like a pink sand beach glistening in the afternoon sun. That is the best I can describe it.

The other thing I really liked about DS Reserve is the coverage. Again, this is a polish that will easily work with 1 coat but I have 2 coats in the picture. Even with 2 coats it is still “thin on the nails”. What I mean by that is it is not built up and my nails feel as if nothing was on them. I hope that makes sense. I like when a polish doesn’t build up on the nail. I know some people don’t agree with that and will use a base coat like Gelous to build up the nail beds more. If a polish gets too built up on my nails I have the urge to pick. And with picking the polish off, chewing my nails is imminent! If I don’t paint my nails I chew them.

OPI DS Reserve is one of about a dozen colors in this line. Some of the colors are more holographic than the Reserve. Reserve looks a little bit holographic in the bottle but I did not see it on the nail. The price is more than a regular OPI. In my area the retail price is almost double. The DS sells for $15-18. I found the Designer Series listed on Amazon.com and for less than the retail price. Most of the ones I saw were $10.
Final thoughts: OPI DS series This is my only polish from OPI’s Designer Series, and I cannot help but be totally impressed with the application, color combinations, easy as pie removal, and that mind-blowing shine factor. While the “diamond-dust” in the formula may not be an overt addition, it really does serve to add an extra dimension of sparkle to the overall effect, but not in a way that can ever be thought of as tacky. You all know I do not care for glitter nail polish, however I do like the sparkle-y polish. The Designer Series gives me the sparkle factor without the glitter. Win/Win! 😘

(SALE banner from Mae’s Beauty blog: Which you can find here)
One of my favorite blogs Mae’s Beauty is having a blog sale. She has all different brands on sale and at great prices! She just listed some brand new Zoya polish and she will ship international. She has most of the brands we are all familiar with (OPI, L’Oreal, Zoya, NY&C, Deborah Lippmann, butter LONDON just to name a few) and also some Indy brands. If you’ve ever wanted to try some Indy Polish, this is a great way to go. I hope you check out her sale, and her blog while you’re there.

💅 As always, thanks for stopping by!

Betty’s Blog

I have been a busy dog because my Mom has this new seizure disorder and its up to me to keep her home when she needs to. I also let her know when it's time to take me for my walk, my neighbors like me too.
My mom won't let me leave the yard but the other day I had to wake mom up and take her outside so she could call 911 for the neighbor lady who was having a heart attack. The firemen tried to take me with them but my mom, and I,, both said no.
It's starting to warm up and we have lots of birds and squirrels,. My mom doesn't like me chasing the squirrels, or the birds because we have a nest in one of the trees. She said we have to be quiet. Maybe I can send you a pic of the baby birds? I'll try.
Have a happy spring, my mom and are going to!
Love, Betty
