Archive for December 2014

This is Diana from Zoya. Zoya is not my favorite nail polish company but when they come out with the name of one of my favorite people on the planet, I had to buy it. This was the case with Diana (Dee-Anna).

My friend, who I met on the internet, is a smart, gorgeous young woman. I have a lot of respect for her, and I enjoy so very much our “conversations” by email. I have learned a lot from her and without getting too mushy I just think the world of Diana , the person, not the polish.

I bought Diana for Diana so she could have it in her collection. I think I forgot to mention she lives in LONDON. At about this time is when the Royal Mail sent her a package back to her. This package contained some nail polish I’d asked her to send. They also gave her a strict scolding about mailing banned items. You can imagine how badly I felt.

I have been hanging onto Diana thinking there may come a time when things will ease up but recently I, myself received a scolding letter, with no package, and no promise of the package being returned. But I receive a very scary letter about mailing banned items.
I have never been a huge fan of red nail polish and I don’t own a lot of it. I was surprised at well I like this color on me. This may be my new favorite red. I promise, if somehow I can get some to my friend, I will, but in the mean time I will enjoy this bottle of Diana .

Of course I had to show this pic of my beautiful friend Diana. She is just as smart as she is gorgeous. A rare woman indeed and one I’m proud to say is my friend.

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by!

She Drives Me Crazy by Deborah Lippmann came out this past summer as part of her summer 80’s Rewind Collection. The thing I loved about that particular collection was the colors were bright without being neon. if that makes sense to you then we should be BFF’s!
It is super cloudy here today so my picture isn’t very good but here is one from last summer, I wore this same manicure so often, hopefully you can see why.

More of the 80’s Rewind Collection, and a cameo of Betty the worlds smartest dog!

I would love to see what you have on your nails today. Please tweet me @JudiT4029 with a pic. I think it will be fun for everyone, not just me. And Deborah Lippmann if you are out there show us what’s on your nails today!

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by!

I don’t exactly have a holiday posting put together but I thought you might like to see some of my favorites for 2014.
(Please note: Some if these May have been sent as a PR sample but not all. Either way, all opinions are my own.

CHANEL May will always be my first pick and of course Black Pearl runs a close second.

Raisin Rage has always been a favorite, this color may seem like a plain maroon but it has so much more going for it, an interesting color. It is an exact dupe to CHANEL June from their Spring line a couple of years ago.
Naughty is an old favorite for many years and for many of you. This was first released by Revlon as Perplexed but was re-promoted as Naughty. This is also an exact dupe for CHANEL Paradoxial.

Take the A Train from Deborah Lippmann’s new Fall 2014 the New York Marquee collection has a luxe chrome finish that is brilliant. I love a metallic finish on nail polish but most metallic polishes are like trying to paint gum onto your nails, but not with this new new collection from Deborah Lippmann. The formula is easy to apply, dries fast and smooth leaving you with stunning nails. Deborah Lippmann calls this the “luxe chrome” finish. A perfect name for it.

Artful Dodger is one of my favorite blue with a hint if green. So much fun to wear any time of year.

Primrose Picnic is another from Butter LONDON that I adore. It is a pretty pink, very bright and cheerful.

The Miracle Gel System. This works so easy, no light to mess with and the results are outstanding. My only complaint and this is just me, I live in such a small town I cannot get enough of these. I have around 400 bottles of polish and I would trade most of them to use only the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel System.. Please try this if you can find it. I feel very confident you would like this system.

Drew of course is my favorite Zoya. As is Drew my favorite son:

And also from Zoya, equally favorite is Ashley, my girl.

(Don’t you just love that smile of Ashley’s ?). I do, and I miss it so very badly, every single day.

A personal note: I have not been posting much lately due to some personal issues. As most of you know my Mom passed away about 18 months ago and recently my Dad passed away. It is an adjustment that gets easier every day. I want to thank all of you who sent cards and emails, they mean a lot during these times that we all have to go through.
One of my “internet friends” (we play scrabble and Words with Friends) has been such a help with her words of wisdom and to pull me out of my funk by making me realize I’m not the only one to lose loved ones. Silly as it sounds those words have made me pick myself up and stop feeling sorry for myself and ready to move forward. So enough of that! I’m back. Thank you for your support and I look forward to an awesome 2015, how about you?

I couldn’t complete a “favorites posting” without including my still all time favorite:

Of course this is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure (CSM) in the color Commander in Chic. Yes, after all this time, I’m still in love with the Commander! πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜

(The items featured in this post were sent to me for review. I was not asked to write about them, nor was I asked to send them a “preview” copy. All opinions are my own.)

Pacifica is a newer line of nail polish that interested me because not only is it 3 free, nor 4 free but it is 7 free, 100% Vegan AND CRUELTY FREE. The latter being the most important, for me anyway.

Fantasea is this gorgeous blue that has a very subtle shimmer. It shows on the nail in the right light but to be fair it is also very subtle in the bottle. The formula was great, I liked the brush. Full coverage with 1 coat would have been easy-peasy, but you know me, I always do 2 coats. This picture has no top coat. Wear time was pretty normal, no chips and very little tip wear. I was impressed with that because I actually wore this one for almost a week. What!? Yes, you read right I wore a polish for almost a week! Ha! 😘

This is Fantasea with a matte top coat from Pacifica. Again the top coat is 7 free and , 100% Vegan and CRUELTY FREE.
I liked the look of the matte top coat. I have been using quite a bit. Here are a couple more “matte” looks:

As you can see this matte top coat from Pacifica gives just what is promised, a matte look. I like it on the darker polishes as well as the brighter ones.
Look for this brand when shopping, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. In fact I bet you’d be pleased and I love the 7 free, vegan CRUELTY FREE aspect of any cosmetic company, not just this one.

Fantasea, one more look! See, this is why I wore for almost a week, such a pretty color.

As always, the photos from my iPad do not do justice to these gorgeous, and I do mean gorgeous polishes. New for Fall 2014 from Deborah Lippmann these polishes all have a great new finish called luxe chrome. I have never seen anything like it and I’d bet a nickel neither have you. I love this finish and with a metallic polish yet!

Take the A Train is a gray-ish silver with the luxe chrome finish. Usually with a metallic or silver, gold, or any other metallic color it can be like trying to paint chewing gum onto your nails. Needless to say, Deborah Lippmann has a winner with this formula.

The polish goes on smooth with complete coverage in one coat. I was tempted to leave it at that because of other experiences with the metallic finish and the crappy results from doing a 2nd coat, but I did apply a 2nd coat with no problems. The polish dries fairly fast and looks beautiful. My nails are smooth as glass, I couldn’t be happier. This color is unique as it changes with the light, it’s mostly silver but can be lilac, or a gray-ish blue.

I’ve already added Harlem Nocturne as an accent but I will do a full manicure, along with the Lull-a-Bye-Broadway (the prettiest rosΓ© gold ever) and I’ll let you know what I think of those. I have a feeling I will love them just as much as Take the A Train.

Final Thoughts: on the Deborah Lippmann New York Marquee Fall 2014 Collection is a win, is a win, is a win! You guys know me well enough that I’m not just saying that. This formula is truly different from any other metallic formula I’ve tried. I’m sure you will like it and I hope you will give it a try.
Deborah Lippmann can be found at Deborah Lippmann’s website and at Nordstrom and Sephora along with the usual sites like Amazon. Retail price is $20 but look for sales at Nordstrom’s and Sephora. I know it’s a lot of money but this particular collection is well worth it.
