I often get asked what is the best brand of nail polish. Because of that, I have been working all summer on comparing different brands of nail polish. I compared over 3⃣0⃣brands of nail polish, all available in the US. Meaning this comparison of brands does not include any Barry M or other brands only available in the UK. I scored the different brands using these 5 items of criteria: brush/bottle, formula, price, dry time, and wear. These are the items that are important to me in a nail polish. When I was finished there were 3 brands that had all 5/5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is the complete list of polish I compared in this “study”. These are in alphabetical order

As I am writing this post the songs from “Grease” are playing on my iPod portion of my iPad. I πŸ’— love that movie. One of my very favorites. Right now it’s “🎢🎢 Summer Lovin”. 🎢🎢 I must need to watch this movie again because this has been going on for a couple of days now. But anyway, back to the post, what I’ve been lovin’ all summer long, and finally picked it up last night.

20120817-122528.jpg L’Oreal Now You Sea Me.. This is a perfect blue green for me because it leans more blue than green. I really like it, I like it so much it may have a spot in my Top Ten colors, ever!.

I have wanted this polish since about mid-April. I’d seen it first on EstΓ©e from EssieButtons and of course loved it on her. Then I would see it in the stores, and I don’t know why but I would pass it up. Then my You Tube friend Sandra at Makeuploverusa showed this polish and I knew I wanted it. Even then I still passed it up. Then yesterday my YouTube friend Gina at Citrushearted made a comment on Twitter that after wanting all summer, she was finally going to buy the Deborahh Lippmann polish Mermaids Dream. I too had been thinking about getting the DL polish, mostly because I need a DL polish to finish up my review of my polish by brand comparison study and I don’t feel it would be a complete comparison leaving this brand out. Small problem, it’s not sold anywhere near me, so I will probably have to go on-line to purchase. The other small problem is DL does a lot of glitter, and we all know I’m not so much for the glitter. I have been looking at Nordstrom’s site and will probably order a DL creme finish for my “study”. But I’m getting off track, again!
After Gina’s comment about buying Mermaids Dream dafter wanting all summer, Now You Sea Me came to mind for me. 🎈 And I had a $3 off any purchase from Walgreens so I thought, today is the day “NYSM will be mine. I went into Walgreens, straight for the polish. They have a sale, BOGO, the get one is free, so I picked up 2. These are $5.99 each. Total price at this point : $5.99 for 2. When I got up to the check stand, my favorite Beauty SA had a coupon in her pocket for $2 off any L’Oreal product. So this dropped my price to $3.99 for 2. Then I had my $3 off any purchase so the grand total for 2 bottles of polish was 99 cents. I did have to pay the sales tax on the higher prices and on both bottles so I actually paid $2.18 for those 2 bottles. Love It!

20120817-124609.jpg I love this color on me. . This is definetly the color of this summer, this turquoise blue/green. You know me, I figured I’d probably already had this color in other brands, but I don’t. πŸŽ‰

This is the nail wheel with the turquoise blue-greens I own. Some are close, but not really. There is enough of a change in the color to differentiate this one from the others. From left to right the colors are: Butter London Trustafarian, Color Club Age of Aquarius, Essence Viva la Green, OPI Thanks a Windmillion, Zoya Wednesday , China Glaze For Audrey, L’Oreal NYSM, China Glaze Sea Spray, Sally Hansen Gray by Gray, and OPI I Don’t Give a Rotterdam.

β˜€Now for my review: L’Oreal polishes generally have a thinner consistency to them, especially with the lighter colors. But as the colors get darker, the formula seems to get a little thicker. This one seemed to be a mixture of thin and thick, not an ideal formula to work with. Once I realized what was going on, after removing one hand already painted, I went back to my old stand by of thin coats. This took 2 thin coats perfectly, full coverage, no Dreaded 😑VNL and dry time was as expected. Any streaks caused by the formula were quickly fixed with a top coat of Seche-Vite.
I think this a perfect summer color and will be a good one to carry into fall. I think you could wear this color all year round, if you want to!
I give L’Oreal Now You Sea Me 🌟🌟🌟🌟 out of 5.

Do you like this color? Are your L’Oreal items on crazy sale right now? Let me know if you pick this o e up, I do t think you will regret.

Thanks for stopping by. πŸ’—πŸ’‹πŸ’…

🎢🎢Summer Lovin, had me a blast! 🎢🎢

20120805-180335.jpg This is what I came up with today for my 50 Shades of Sunday series. Dress Me Up from China Glaze. Disclaimer: For those of you new to my blog, this series is a way for me to wear a polish, in my collection, that for whatever reason I have never worn before. Sadly there are quite a few polishes which would fit the bill. Each Sunday I will wear a polish for a couple of days at least, to give a good test run. Sometimes they make it 2 days,πŸ‘ sometimes they don’t.πŸ‘Ž.

20120805-180914.jpg. πŸ’“Since it can be hard to actually see the nails while holding the bottle I thought I would show this picture. I think this is a very pretty polish. It will definitely ,make it’s way into my regular rotation of polishes I use on a regular basis. Let’s have one more look, shall we?

20120805-181127.jpg I think this color looks fab on my shorter nails and I think it will look even better when my nails are a little longer. πŸ‘
Does this color qualify for my other series ‘ I Must Really Like This Color?’. I don’t think so. I do have a couple other polishes that are similar but the differences are noticeable enough that I think they each have a place and a time to be worn.πŸ†’

In the center of the picture is Dulce de Leche by OPI, this is the same beige with a rose tint, however, the rose tint is so mild it is almost non recognizable making the beige more prominent. This could give someone ‘mannequin hands’ with the right skin tone, or the wrong skin tone, however you want to look at it. On me it is just a very pretty neutral, something I would wear to a job interview. On the left is Dusty Rose by Gosh. This is a UK brand but I have heard rumblings of it coming to the states, so be on the look out for Gosh polish. This color, although called Dusty Rose, should have just been called Dusty as there isn’t anything rosy about it. Again, like the Dulce de Leche you would have to be very careful about the ‘mannequin hand’ look with this one. On me this one is just a real pretty beige. I would wear this to a job interview, wedding, funeral, those types of things and feel completely comfortable and pulled together.
For my friend Diane, πŸ’—I almost chose Essie’s Buy Me a Cameo. This too is a pretty beige but with a frost. I didn’t like the way it looked on my shorter nails, plus I knew she would be wearing it and rocking it, so….

20120805-192758.jpg. I could not compete with that! πŸ’…
Believe it or not, I seldom get compliments on my nails. My mom always wants to see what color I have on and she will always say they are beautiful, comments left on my YT videos are usually complimentary about my nails, but in my real day to day life, I very seldom get a compliment, or even a geesh, what were you thinking about THaT color kind of comment. I’m not bringing this up for you to all leave comments complimenting my nails, you all know me better than that. But the reason I go into all this is I have received so many comments and compliments on this polish. The 20 something kid at the gas station, the guy on the boat dock loading his boat onto a trailer, the woman at the grocery store, my neighbor guy, and even my dad. And the girl at the EstΓ©e Lauder counter and at TJMaxx today all said they loved this polish and the women all wanted to know the name of it. So I think this is a winner, winner chicken dinner.πŸ” (you know I just wanted to use the chicken icon, right?)
Anyway, this weeks 50 Shades of SundayΒ© goes to Dress Me Up from China Glaze, from the Hunger Games Collection released Spring 2012.

Omg, Big Brother is about to start. love that show. Thanks so much for stopping by. Mwahhhh!πŸ’‹

I have been asked several times to do a comparison study of polish by brand. Well actually I have been asked what brand do I like the best? As I’ve never really done a comparative study of the brands I have spent the last several months doing just that.

20120707-172951.jpgRight hand

20120707-173040.jpgLeft hand

As you can clearly see I have a crazy manicure going on right now. I’ve received 2 compliments on my nais today. No one has said what the hey? Which by the way this is day 2 of this crazy manicure and you can see some slight wear already starting. The Essie Play Date and my beloved Lavender Creme are showing slight bits of wear, but I’m not ready to hold it against them, just yet.

The other thing I noticed is how crazily similar OPI Strawberry Margarita is to Wet n Wild Lavender Creme.

I will check back with you in a couple days, as Operation Crazy Mani continues………

These are in particular order?
1. Revlon Grey Suede.

2. OPI Skull & Glossbones

3. Zoya Wednesday

4. OPI Strawberry Margarita

5. China Glaze Pink Voltage ( neon)

6. Essie Play Date

7. Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

8. Venique Heel d’Orssey

9. Wet n Wild Lavender creme

10. Wet n Wild Dream Poppy

Probably my three favorites are the last three, Heel d’Orssey, Lavender Creme and Dream Poppy.

My next 2 favorites are Wednesday and Pacific blue.

And, as surprised as I was, I think my favorite out of all of them has got to be Wet n Wild Lavender Creme. I wear this color over and over. I will take this polish off only to re-apply, and that never happens. So, the Number One spot for me this summer is Labender Creme. πŸŽ‰πŸ’…πŸ†’

Yes, I can finally say I have a real bona-fide nail polish collection. I am so proud of myself. It has taken a lot of work, but the fun kind of work you like to do when organizing something you love. And I love my nail polishes. Okay, there I said it. I love my nail polishes. Not so much that I want to marry them, but I do love them. I love to look at them. I love to re-arrange them. I love to swatch them onto nail wheels, and then do it all over again but this time let’s do it by colors. As you all know, or should know, I recently found this odd little cabinet at a yard sale $2, and it was mine. This is what it looked like when I brought it home.

20120706-232700.jpgI knew with a minimum amount of work I could have it looking like this in no time.

20120706-232909.jpgI was right, wasn’t I? . It’s a thing of beauty! I see all these other nail polish storage units that people are buying on e-bay for $40-90 and I think my $2 cabinet beats theirs all to heck and back. (sorry to those of you that bought the pretty ones from e-bay, if you love it, that’s all that matters).
The other thing I’ve been doing and I haven’t told you about yet, is, I’ve been buying up old spice racks at yard sales and then spray painting them a cream color. So far I have 2 and they work so well for nail polish. Before I found my beautiful cabinet, the plan was to find enough spice racks, spray paint them and then hang them on the wall. I will continue to buy old spice racks because I think it’s a great idea and I may sell them with my polish, if I can ever get my on- line store up and running. I’m going to show a picture of what I mean

20120706-233705.jpgthis is in my bedroom where all my polish now lives. . No, your eyes aren’t bleeding, that is just the terrible color pink I have on my walls and have not got around to re-painting that room. All the other rooms have been re done but why is my bedroom always the last to get done? Anyway, as you can see, along with the cabinet I have the 2 spice racks, I’m sure I’ll add a few more here and there, but for the most part I am done organizing my polish and the best part is I have my dining room back! Remember what it looked like before?

20120706-234121.jpgthis is my dining room today. Not a nail polish in sight and I love it that way. I love having my corner china cupboard back for china and some of the chatchkees I found for Jilly but she hasn’t seen them yet. The other thing that is good about my polish collection being housed in my bedroom, is that is the room with the least amount of light, and we all know that light is not friends with your nail polish. Not for the long haul anyway.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember to keep calm and paint your nails. πŸ’…

I can finally take Pay Pal for my nail polish sales. I’m so happy to be able to offer this as I know it makes things so much easier for you to buy.

Thank-you for your patience and thanks to those who have purchased pre PayPal days.
