As most of you know my beautiful Mom passed away in July of 2013. Some days it seems like a lifetime ago and then days Ike today it seems like last week.
One of my favorite times with her was giving her manicures. I did this once a week as she had the fastest growing fingernails of anyone I ever saw. She always had the most beautiful nails. After her seizures she just wanted them cut back with a no muss, no fuss approach so that is what I did. I would brings several bottles of nail polish for her to pick out and she always liked the brightest colors. I think it was because she had glaucoma and. macular-degeneration, so the bright colors were easiest for her to see .
Here are are her favorites:

Barry M Bright Pink was one of her favorites. She often remarked on how well it lasted. Her most favorite color was purple.

She especially liked the Catrice brand out of Germany, which is a great polish and if you have a chance to pick so up I hope you do. Mom’s favorite was “Heavy Metallilac” and “Even More Heavy Metalilac”, which are both a gorgeouse purple duo-chrome. Thank you to my friend Carla for sending these to me. I also love Heavy Metalilac but can’t quite bring myself to wear it just yet. Soon…

Since the nut doesn’t far too far away from the tree, she also loved her some CHANEL polish…

The other thing my Mom loved was her kids and Grandkids. She wore this one for her great-granddaughter Audrey. She would often times ask me to bring this one for her. More for the name than the color. As you probably know this is called “For Audrey” from China Glaze. This was made to be the exact color of a Tiffany’s box.

Although Mom wasn’t there for Jilly’s wedding, she was in spirit. She helped Jilly decide which polish to wear. Not only did Jilly wear this polish but she had all her bridal wear it as well. I think it was a great choice.

Happy Birthday Mom. You will never be forgotten.

πŸ’…As always, thanks for stopping by!

Now that summer is over and we are all looking forward to fall, I have been reflecting on my favorite Summer 2014 polishes. As you all know I decided blue would be my ‘signature’ color for the summer. For the most part, I wore a lot of blue.

Azure from CHANEL is one of my favorites because my handsome son bought this for me as a Mother’s Day -slash-Birthday present. (All you Mothers with middle of the month May birthdays know what I’m talking about. May is a great month for birthdays but we get short changed with the whole Mother’s Day thing at the same time. Really I’m not complaining.).

Resurrection from Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure (CSM) has been another favorite this summer.

It became a staple used with Grey by Grey from Sally Hansen CSM in my half and half manicures you all know I like to wear. More times than not, I will have on a half and half manicure.

Whether it’s Barry M Blue Moon, or CHANEL Sky Line, and all the blues between its impossible to pick a favorite.
Maybe because of my fair skin which is definetly pink toned and my blue eyes I cannot pass up a great blue nail polish from any shade or any brand.

With all that said I think this fall my ‘signature’ look will be

Pink leaning toward red. That’s what mood I’m in for today anyway!
What color are you in the mood for?

This week for me has been about finding a J-O-B. that got me thinking about appropriate nail polish choices for jobs.

A job interview for me would be an ultra professional setting, and for those types of interviews I would go with one of my old stand bys: butter LONDON Yummy Mummy. This a great nude on me and gives the mannequin hand look. It also makes my nails look to be well groomed.

Another great choice for a professional setting would be Jana from Zoya. I think Jana is very close to SH CinC and is one of those gray/beige colors that certainly would not be offensive or even distracting during an interview.

Depending on what you were wearing CHANEL Skyline could be a great nude. I think the focus of an interview for a professional job would be the fact that you are put together from your wardrobe, make up and nail color choices.

Now, I’m going on a limb here, but I can see an exquisite black, fitted suit, great toned down make up, and with just a pop of color on your nails tells the interviewers that you have confidence. If you are just starting out in the business world I would not suggest this red but if you are an established professional I think this CHANEL Dragon conveys the message of confidence like nothing else can. Of course, I would never wear this in an initial interview. I would break out Dragon on the 2nd or 3rd interview. And happily so!

Again, depending on what you are wearing and the position you are interviewing for, I likeZoya Drew as a conservative, rosy colored polish with a bit of shimmer but not enough to take away from your entire look.

A few of the things I take into consideration before choosing my polish for an interview is: What I will be wearing.. A dark suit can be perfect with the nude Yummy Mummy and that would my first choice. Especially if this a first interview.
#2 to consider is the type of work you are applying for. For me that is an accounting position, usually with larger companies. Again, the dark, fitted perfectly suit with Yummy Mummy is perfect but then when called for the 2nd interview, which is very common for my “job types” I would probably wear a linen suit, again fitted perfectly and with this linen suit I might choose CHANEL Skyline, Zoya Drew, or even Jana from Zoya.. This 2nd interview might also be the time to break out the CHANEL Dragon red. It just depends.
#3 item to consider on all interviews is to know your audience. I applied for a job as an office manager for our county fair board. I was interviewed by the county fair board of 12 people, mostly farmers and people in the agriculture community. I was entirely over-dressed for that interview. The girl who went in behind me was dressed in jeans, she got the job.
#4 don’t be afraid to be yourself. I would never go to a job interview with no nail polish. I’m going to wear my nail polish so I don’t want them to have expectations that I wouldn’t. Does that make sense?
#5 I always cut my nails down to ‘nubs’ before a serious interview. A serious interview, and for a job I really want.

Naked from Deborahh Lippmann is another great choice for a nude “interview type polish”. Naked and Yummy Mummy are my go to interview polishes.

There are lots of choices for nude nail polish but for me ultimately it is butter LONDON Yummy Mummy.

Wish me luck in my hunt for a job. It is going to take some time and be full of rejections. I realize at my age and experience level I have “priced myself out of the market” but I think I have a plan to overcome those issues. I will, of course, keep you posted in my hunt and how it ends up. With a great J-O-B!! I hope I have helped someone in their choice of polish for a job interview, and I hope anyone out there looking for a job nothing but great success !

While commenting on one of my favorite blogs, BeautyObsessed tonight I realized there was quite a bit I needed to update here.

First off, No Repeat November Challenge! Yes, I participated. The idea was to go for the month of November without repeating any make up products. Since I only have a couple mascara & foundations this applied mostly to blush, eyeshadow and lipstick, for me. And of course nail polish, that was not a problem.
Each day as I did my make up I would put what I used in an empty Glossybox on my counter. That’s the picture above. At the end of the month I had 2 boxes overflowing. I was glad to see this challenge come to an end because I did not like my make up in boxes, on the counter. I like it put away. So I was happy on Saturday morning December 1st to put everything away. Nice and neat, that’s how I like it.😘

What I learned from this exercise is how much I love my Burberry eyeshadow in Rosewood,on the left, and my Dallas bronzer from Benefit. I found myself more than once wanting to reach for them again, but I was a good girl. Funny but I’ve hit pan on both of these items! The No Repeat November Challenge was the brain child of Lauren at Red Head PHD I want to thank Lauren for including me in this exercise. It was nice to have something different to do, and some of my friends participated as well, so it was a fun little challenge and I learned something, which is always a good thing.

I did buy a ZoyaDream Box. This was on sale for $20, free shipping. I ordered one of their pre-made boxes which includes Edyta, Daul and Fei Fei. I am giving this box to my son’s girlfriend for Christmas. During Thanksgiving she pulled me aside and asked me to help her with her nails. I think she will love these colors and I think she will really appreciate this box.

I’ve also gone a little Deborah Lippmann crazy! Nordstrom had a great special, buy 2 get 1 free for DL polish. I bought On the Beach, which I blogged yesterday and Mermaid’s Dream. For the free polish I picked up another Mermaid’s Dream for my beautiful friend Diana. I knew she didn’t have Mermaid’s Dream, and I honestly think we are the last 2 on the planet to have this polish. I see why everyone is crazy about it. It is so, so pretty!

While surfing around the Internet I came across this Deborah Lippmann called Sweet Dreams. I fell in love with it and bought it from HSN. Not my most favorite place to shop but I felt the price was reasonable and shipping was fast.πŸ˜„

Then of course Julep has been having Great Flash Sales and One Day Only bargains. If you havent gone to their website to register, use the link and register, then you can be a part of these sales. I get an email from them every morning and they are pulling out all their best right now. I honestly think this is the best time to buy Julep nail polish. So I bought Alfre, a pretty purple-y metallic polish. I haven’t used it yet but I’ve been wanting this one for a while now. The real reason I bought the polish, along with some other goodies?

This phone case was free with my order. My dad thinks I had it special made for me, it does fit me though! πŸ’… I love it and I’m loving my new phone. I got the phone for free when I extended my contract with Sprint.
Also, I participated in the Bloggers Secret Santa, which I will tell you more about, soon. AND, from BeautyObsessed I won a Make Up Forever Giveaway. I’ll definetly tell you about that when I receive.
I haven’t told you about the new Venique that was sent to me for review or the Rescue Beauty Lounge polish I purchased. I will, soon. There might also be some CHANEL involved. πŸ˜„
Shwooooo…. I think that’s all, let me know in the comments what you’ve been up to!
πŸ’…As always, thanks for stopping by.. ( I know there are typos, I promise to fix tomorrow )

I often get asked what is the best brand of nail polish. Because of that, I have been working all summer on comparing different brands of nail polish. I compared over 3⃣0⃣brands of nail polish, all available in the US. Meaning this comparison of brands does not include any Barry M or other brands only available in the UK. I scored the different brands using these 5 items of criteria: brush/bottle, formula, price, dry time, and wear. These are the items that are important to me in a nail polish. When I was finished there were 3 brands that had all 5/5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is another Revlon dupe I found while on the Internet. Ok, I was looking for polish to buy. I would love to have a Ciate, Nubar, Mavala and more Barry M and Gosh polishes. ” I can’t help myself.”

Revlon’s Whimsical is the top picture, I got this picture from a blog called

Steph’s Closet

The bottom picture is Deborah Lippmann’s Glitter in the Air. I got this picture from a site called

. I would like to thank them for the pictures. πŸ™‚

When I looked at these pictures enlarged it is amazing how the color is exactly the same but even the color of the glitters are the same and the shape of the glitters are exactly alike.

I posted this on my dupe page because even though I haven’t bought either polish, I have not eyeballed them myself, I can honestly say these two are duplicates of each other. Let me know what you think. Have you seen any Revlon polishes that look familiar to your favorite high end brand? Let me know!

This is a picture of the always beautiful, always stunning Coco Chanel. I put this picture on here because it makes me happy! πŸ™‚

This is a dupe I came across from Revlon for the Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance. It is Revlon’s Facets of Fuschia. Pretty close from the picture. I don’t own a DL polish and I also don’t have the Revlon Facets of Fuschia so I’m going off what I saw and read. (just a little disclaimer, there!)

I saw a ton of blog posts and pictures showing this comparison but I believe this picture is from the blog “beauty in budget”.
