Julep Maria is the perfect rose gold metallic, on the market, in my opinion. I adore this color and by far this is my favorite Julep polish. As you can see it goes on opaque in 2 coats, no streaks, just beautiful. Did I say I love this color?
I think this may be the first nail polish I will fully use to the bottom!

I do use a hollowed out deer antler to hold my Julep bottles. (This was made for me to be a tooth pick holder by Bill, my niece’s fiancรฉ last Christmas.) This has never held tooth picks because it is perfect for my Julep bottles. If you don’t have a hollowed out deer antler, and really anyone outside of Idaho, who does? You can use a small glass or a small candle holder.

This is an old Avon candle holder that works perfect to keep the Julep bottles steady while using. I know the bottle is an issue for a lot of people. I also know Julep has no intention of changing their bottle anytime soon. Yes, I asked. To me this is a sad situation and another example of a growing company oblivious to their customers concerns. Sometimes when companies expand and grow so fast they are honed in on the bottom line, meaning $$$$, when really all they need to do is ๐Ÿ‘‚listen to what their customers concerns are and that is when the ‘ol bottom line really starts to grow, meaning $$$$$$. But, it is what it is. I do not want this to be a bash Julep post. I think it’s fairly apparent by the number of bottles I own and the number of months I have been a customer that I like this brand of polish. The only thing that would drive me over the edge would be a caviar kit, yes, a caviar kit which came out about, what 8 months ago. That would be the fork telling me, I’m done. ๐Ÿ˜

Tomorrow I’m adding a matte top coat. No not from Julep, I never get any of their extras like that. Erica gets all the extras, she gets the matte top coat, the nail therapy, the base coat and the cuticle cream. I get to embrace my un-named ” Mystery Glitter” which we all know I will never wear. I got a matte top coat in a kit from H & M. Wait til you see what this matte top coat does for these metallics! You will like, I promise, and I promise to post a picture here, so check back.

You can find Julep here.
This is a referral link, but we all know it does not seem to want to work that way. I’ve heard from other bloggers that had the same issues. But my fingers are crossed so I hope you use the referrall link, but if not you can always go to julep.com.
You can also find Julep on ebay and Amazon

๐Ÿ’… As always, thanks for stopping by and thanks so much for all your comments. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in my thinking. ๐Ÿ‘ฏ ๐Ÿ‘ซ โค๐Ÿ‘ฏ๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Julep Maria with a matte top coat. I used a matte top coat from a kit I bought at H & M this fall. I love the matte top coat on these metallics. I did this also on Megan and it was really pretty. I think I liked the look of the matte better on Megan than on Maria. If you try a matte top coat on a metallic, let me know how you liked it.

For those of you new to my blog, welcome! This is a series I do every Sunday. It’s where I use a polish from my collection that I have never worn, for whatever reason. It’s a way for me to use my polish, not just look at it, but wear it. I hope this inspires you to take a look at your collection and maybe wear one you haven’t. You’d be surprised at the gem you might find!

This is Maria from Julep. I first got this in a box from Julep almost a year ago. I had swatched it and thought it was pretty but didn’t wear it for a long time. Sometime around May or June I went to put this on and it had become separated and was almost like trying to paint bubble gum onto my nails. I emailed Julep, it was a Saturday so I didn’t expect to hear from them but I got an e-mail that afternoon and in Monday’s mail was a replacement bottle of Maria. Needless to say, I was quite impressed with their customer service.

Maria is a true metallic polish, it is a rose gold, not too light and not too dark. As with all metallic polishes it can be a bit fussy to apply. It is best to use one stroke from top to bottom and only one coat. Just to get my nails painted properly for this post, it took almost a half bottle of polish. Yes, Julep’s bottles are small, .27 ounces, but that should tell you how many times I would have to remove and start over on a nail. If I had to do any kind of going back over to smooth over it would become a gummy mess. There are still visible brush strokes that I thought a top coat of Seche-Vite would hide.

Although this isn’t my favorite polish because of the application, it is a pretty polish and I will wear it for a few days because I probably won’t be wearing this one again. I particularly wanted a pink polish for this series because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. October is almost over but I still wanted to wear pink to honor those who have been afflicted with this disease, those who have lost their loves to this disease and especially for those who have fought and won the battle against this terrible disease. Every time I wear pink, no matter the month, it is in “their” honor.

Please check out my previous post. I am giving away these 3 bottles of nail polish using Random.org. Leave a comment on the other post, tell me your favorite brand of nail polish and I will use random.org to pick a winner. Fingers crossed!

๐Ÿ’…As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Going’ For the GOLD!
It’s a good one this time, last time I only had 3 (but some of you thought I hadn’t looked good enough) this time I have 7. Yes, I said 7. And okay, a couple of them were gifts but the rest are all my doing. Dang! Why do I do ths?

We have from left to right:

Julep Oscar
Julep Maria
Orly Buried Treasure (birthday gift, thanks April)
Revlon Gold Coin (I thought this may have been a dupe for CHANEL Delight)
Revlon Golden Charm (I see no difference from Golden coin, this was in a swap package)
L’Oreal because you’re worth it
OPI Just Spotted the Lizard

I am sending Revlon Gold Coin to a friend who made the mistake of mentioning she was looking at gold nail polish. We almost had a fist fight because then she wanted to send me something, but I really just want her to have it and I like sending people little things. I don’t do it to get something back. Diane.๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for stopping by. How many gold nail polishes do you have? None? I’ll send you one! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I’m wearing Megan from Julep. This is a color I have had for quite some time. It was one of the first colors I got from Julep. I love this color. I have never worn this color. I am going to keep this on my nails until Saturday. Since I have been going a little polish crazy once again, I am putting myself on a polish diet. I will change my polish on Wednesday, Saturday, and Monday. One of those changes will include a polish I own but have never worn.
Now onto the subject at hand ( no pun intended) 10 Things I Love about Julep!
1. The colors are so pretty. when I look at my color wheels I have prepared of all the polish I own, Julep is by far, the prettiest
2. Julep is the only monthly subscription service that lets you see, and choose your colors
3. Julep continues to offer great promos on their products, even after you are a ‘maven’.
4. Julep offers great “mystery boxes” ever so often, they are lots of fun and seldom disappointing
5. When I email Julep with a question about their program, someone always responds to me. This last Saturday I went to paint my nails with Maria, a metallic finished pink, but something funky happened to Maria and it was like trying to paint chewed up gum onto my nails. I emailed Julep, expecting advice on how to fix, maybe with a thinner, or something. Within a couple of hours I had a reply from Mary and she was shipping me a new Maria. Which I received today. Thank you Mary.
6. The colors are so pretty (Sorry, I know that is #1 but I think it bears repeating๐Ÿ™‚
7. Julep is right on trend with colors that are of the moment. About a month ago I wrote on this blog that I thought blues, especially soft blues would be hot for summer, sure enough Julep included a soft blue in their April boxes.
8. Julep sends their customers the same thing they send to magazine editors.
9. The price of Julep is actually very reasonable. At $14 per bottle I know you are saying hhnnuuh? As a “maven” I pay $19.99 for a box each month. The box contains 2 polishes, a beauty item such as lotion, pedicure items, hair spray or argan oil. Lately I have been liking the It Girl boxes, which are all nail polish, none of the extra beauty items. Even in the It Girl boxes there are usually little extras like nail files and chocolate! When broken down $19.99 for 3 it comes out $6.66 each that I pay for Julep. So, yes, I stand by my statement, Julep is very reasonably priced!
10. I have ten fingers in which to paint this gorgeous polish.. Julep is a great formula, whether it’s a cream finish, metallic or sparkly. The brush is just the right size and shape, goes on smooth, does not streak and for the most part wears well. I say for the most part because we all know I don’t wear any color long enough to know how it wears!
Aren’t they pretty?

Now, for the one thing I hate about Julep. You all know what I’m going to say so say it with me… The shape of the bottle. The bottle is tall and skinny. If you look at it wrong it falls over. I don’t know about you but I always put a towel down when I paint my nails. Even on a smooth surface the Julep bottle still fall, never fails. I’m sure Julep paid a lot of money for this design and production of the bottle but how great would it be if it was in a more stable bottle? I can’t imagine who would design a nail polish bottle like this? I’m sure it was a man. No woman would do that. Well, no woman that uses nail polish.

If you haven’t tried the Julep program yet, you can still get your first box for one penny. They don’t add anything for shipping or handling it is one cent that will be charged to you. Julep Maven Program One Cent
If you go there from the above link I will get a referral credit. With 2 credits I get a free box. I would appreciate you using this link, but if you want you can go to http://www.julep.com to sign up. Use the promo code COLOR2012 to get your first box for one penny!
Of course, you can cancel your subscription at any time, you can skip a month, you can have them send to a friend for you, which I think is a great idea! Anyway, they couldn’t be easier to work with and receiving a box from Julep every month is a pure joy! ๐Ÿ™‚
Have you tried Julep? What is your favorite color? Mine, right now, is Niecy. I love that bright pink. My favorite combination to wear half & half is Niecy and Mandy.
