Sugar Shimmer from Sally Hansen are a textured, sparkling polish in colors on trend for this spring and beyond.

I like mixing and matching the colors, up to 3 colors for a manicure is fun for me. But these are also pretty by themselves. The formula is a bit thicker but not too thick. Also, Sugar Shimmer dries faster than a normal polish so you need to work a little faster.
Once dry, these are gorgeous sparkling nails. So pretty when the sun hits them!
You can find Sally Hansen nail polish in the Sugar Shimmer line at most drug stores.
I used 2 coats, no top coat for all the pictures. Tip when Using Sugar Shimmer: For best results, be sure to let dry completely between coats.
If you want to use a top coat, it will not take away from the sparkle but the finish will be more shiny. I personally like the matte type finish with the sparkle.

Let me know if you have tried these or if you plan to. I don’t think you would be disappointed with this one!

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by!

This is my Thanksgiving manicure this year.

This was my Thanksgiving manicure last year.
I am wearing all Quo by Orly which is the higher end of Orly nail polish. My beautiful, and I do mean beautiful friend Diane sent these 3 bottles of Quo to me, thanks so much Diane, you know I love them but mostly I love and so thankful you are my friend. Back to the polish. The red is a bright sparkle-y red in person, it’s almost like a red foil, so very pretty. It is called Wine and Dine.
The 2 browns compliment each other perfectly but I’ve always thrown the red in there with them.
The darker of the browns is called Coffe and Creamer and the lighter of the 2 is called Chestnuts Roastin’. Would you believe I have never, except in movies seen chestnuts roasting anywhere? I’ve often wondered what they tasted like but I’ll probably never know.

This is a first for our family this year, we are all going to the local hotel for Thanksgiving dinner. After everything with the wedding we are all pooped out and there were no volunteers to cook so for the first time ever I am eating Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant, a fancy one at that. We are going to dress up and as long as I’m with my family I don’t care where or what we eat.
The only down side is the day after Thanksgiving Ashley is moving to Tennesee. I will miss seeing her face, and that gorgeous smile of hers! Heck, I will miss everything about her but I am very proud of her for making this move and I think it will be good for her.

This last picture always cracks me up! Good Luck my beautiful girl and never forget, and always remember, you can come home. Even though I’m not your mother I couldn’t love you less or be more proud of you. Godspeed my little one, Godspeed. Oh, one more thing to always remember and never forget, if you need bail money, call your Dad!

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by and thanks for indulging me with a good bye to Ashley.

This is #5 in my Sunday series. For those of you that are new, first of all Welcome!, and B) every Sunday I wear a polish, in my collection, that I have never worn. For whatever reason. I have several polishes that I had to have, some of them I ordered on-line to get, and then never wore. This is going to rectify that situation. Hopefully.

Also, the other part of the challenge is to wear the polish until Wednesday. So far, I am 2 for 2. Only 2 polishes have made it until Wednesday (Tuesday night).

This is Cherries in the Snow by Revlon. The color is gorgeous. It also has the lipstick to match.

Such a classic look. This is a true cherry red, with blue undertones. Perfect for my skin tone. I’ve owned the lipstick for many years. It has been my go to red, you know every girl needs a good red lipstick.

As a new part of the Sunday Series, I am going to do a proper review of the polish.. I have been asked by several people if I would do a comparison of the different brands. And to be honest, I’ve never felt like I was the right person to do that because I change my polish so often. Only out of boredom!
But I will do a test run with this polish, and all future polishes featured on Sunday Series. I hope you guys will like that. I will keep the blog updated about the results. It should take a good month to have a good comparison ready.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and don’t forget to leave me some love! πŸ™‚

Betty is always close by! Love her!

TJ Maxx just opened a store in my town. I’d never been to one before so really looked forward to shopping there. I’d heard on You Tube all the time about great deals people got from that store. It opened Sunday, my girls and I went but it was so packed with people that shopping was pretty much impossible. I saw a lot of people I hadn’t seen for a while, saw a new baby from a friend, and did a lot of visiting.
The next day Ashley and I went and it was much better. Not crowded at all. We actually shopped. Ashley shopped for some clothes and shoes. She is one of those skinny bitches that can wear anything and look adorable, she bought a couple of cute summer shirts. I bought the nail polish charm by Juicy Couture. It is so cute, and meant just for me! It even has a crown on top of the little bottle!

Sorry, the pictures are blurred, as you know the only camera I have is my iPad, it is what it is! I also bought this wallet

It is lined with polka dots. I really didn't want the wallet and after the guy rang me up I wanted to take it off but he didn't know how to do that. He called someone over, and they didn't know how to do that. She brought out a huge notebook to look it up and I decided I would keep the wallet. It's cute, I'll use it, even though it's an awful lot like the one I have.

Oh well! I think I’m going to like our new TJ Maxx store. One little problem though, they had an item there that was exact to an item at Ross (right next door) but TJ Maxx was $3 higher. So I will have to watch that kind of stuff! πŸ™‚

On my nails today: Essie Play Date with accent nails in Model’s Own Disco Mix. Love the glitter, which usually I’m not so much into the glitter. This is such a pretty sparkle in the sunshine, I really can’t take my eyes off it. My friend Nicky sent this to me from Ireland, thank you Nic!

Launching in April, (which is in about 48 hours) Kate Spade nail polish. The set of four can be found at katespade.com, in April. I found this picture from the Birch Box blog.

The colors are Watermelon Fingers, Sea Foam Swirls, Solar Orange and Yellow Cockatoo.
They will be sold in a set of minis for $28. Not a bad price. I for one will be on the Kate Spade site come April 2 nd (remember after all, I have to wait for lent to be over!)

what do you think? Fan or Pass?
Thanks for stopping by and leave me some love, if you feel like it. I feel like it, do you? πŸ™‚

As promised this a picture of Sally Hansen’s Plum’s the Word. This is a pretty pinkish, mauve color. I forgot I had this polish, but found it when I decided to organize my nail polishes. I used to keep them on an old spice rack I found at a yard sale. My collection has outgrown the spice rack, now I keep them in old dishes, mostly found at yard sales. I have a corner cupboard in my dining room. It has been taken over by polishes in dishes.

Anyway, I digress… Back to Plum’s the Word. This polish is VERY close to Essie’s Island Hopping. I think PtW is just a little bit deeper in color, but the IH is shinier.

As you can see in this picture, they are very close. Just so you know, PtW is on the left, IH is on the right. They are between the pink sparkle and cute polka dot nail. I think I might have too much time on my hands. #obvious
Like I’ve said before, Sally Hansen does a great job with polish. I happen to like the wide flat brush in this brand. But I have average to large nail beds. I can see why someone with a little nail bed would not care for the wider brush.
Please check out my You Tube channel. This week I have uploaded video(s) showing my polish collection. I know I have a small collection compared to others but it has been fun to swatch them all on my “wheels of gorgeousness”. thank you, Lori

If there is a cosmetics company out there that does nail polish colors better than CHANEL, I haven’t found them, yet. CHANEL always gets the color of the season just right. Maybe that is because CHANEL is the one setting the trends. If you looked at the recent fashion shows held in New York, London and Paris you will see that trending for the summer and fall is a lot of blue, gray, and blue-grays. CHANEL showed their latest haute couture collection set in an airplane. The runway was the center aisle of the plane. When asked after the show, why all the clothes were blue, Karl Lagerfeld responded with no reason, but added “I don’t have the blues”.

This the end of the show when all the models come out. Gorgeous!
Dior also showed a lot of bluish-gray. Probably more on the gray side than the blue side. His polish of choice looked to be an eggplant purpley color. CHANEL’s clear choice for polish is a pretty frosty blue. Right now on the CHANEL website, there is a limited edition color “Coco Blue” which is a light frosty blue. The other limited edition colors are Gold Fingers, part of the Las Vegas de CHANEL collection. This is a sheer gold, and the only review I saw on it was not a positive one. The reviewer said it pulled too much yellow, making her hand look sallow. From the Spring 2012 Collection June is the only color of the 3 released for this collection to be a limited edition.

These are the 3 colors released for the spring collection. From left to right, April, May and June. I bought May for myself as my birthday is in May (16th) and I love pink :), I bought April for a friend of mine who has a birthday in April, and I bought June as a prize in an upcoming giveaway on my You Tube channel.
These polishes ultimately give a great payoff in color and wear. If you haven’t used them before, they can be frustrating. Pretty much across the board, CHANEL polishes must go on in thin, thin layers. You need to let the first coat dry before applying the second coat, and don’t be surprised if you need a third. I have 3 coats of May in the picture, with a topcoat. The other thing about these polishes is the uniqueness (is that a word?) πŸ™‚ of the colors. I know May is a spring/summer pink and you think it would be easy to duplicate, but not so. This is a warm pink, as opposed to a cool pink which is part of why it is so different. Even with CHANEL’s Black Pearl, which is a gray shimmer with blue undertones, you think it would be easy to duplicate but not really. You can come close. Revlon’s Black with Envy comes ‘close’ to Black Pearl but I think it is too dark to be a dupe. Black Pearl is part of CHANEL’s permanent line, and has been a top seller for many years. Revlon’s Naughty, which used to be called Perplexed is touted as being a dupe for CHANEL’s Paradoxical. I have heard from a reliable source that this is an exact dupe. I must say Naughty is also in my top 5 polish list.
CHANEL has raised the price of their polish. I paid $25 for Black Pearl and May. June was $28 and April was $26. McKenzie at Nordstrom told me June was higher because it is LE. Are they worth the price? For me and the 2 polishes I own, yes. I love both Black Pearl and May, they are in my top 5 colors of all time. Will I add to my collection of CHANEL polish? Probably not. For me the $8 polish that is ‘close’ to a CHANEL color is just fine. I will save the difference and buy more lipstick!

This is another picture that makes me happy, so I just had to add it.
My You Tube channel
Click on the link above for my You Tube channel. I will be announcing a giveaway in the next week, one of the prizes will be CHANEL’s nail polish in the Limited Edition June!. This color has been described as the perfect apricot color! And I agree, it is so pretty and bright. This spring/summer it is all about this apricot, peachy, tangerine-ee color. It is every where. Which of the 3 spring shades is your favorite?
