The number for this week was 79, I have a confession to make regarding the numbers. My google spreadsheet quit working for me quite some time ago. My friend Diana sent the original to me, and between my health issues and her being on holiday I haven’t had a chance to ask how I can fix it. I have just been using my nail polishes willy nilly, no rhyme nor reason. 💋💋
It’s not nearly as much fun as the Nail Polish Lottery Club and I hope to be back on track this week. (I think I have a plan to fix the problem, remember I said I think).
If you would like more information about the club, please go to our Facebook page here. We’d love to have you, all are welcome!
Now for this weeks “pick”

Porchester Square from Nails, Inc GEL NAIL POLISH EFFECT . This is a fairly new line from Nails, Inc claiming the benefits of a gel manicure, without the gel or the special light needed for curing the polish. The bottle says it has a new ‘plasticizer’ technology and it allows for plumping of the nail. I’m not sure about the plumping part, or why that would be a selling point, but I absolutely love the idea of a gel polish without the fuss. 😘

Porchester Square is a great color. Nails, Inc sells this color in their regular line too. It’s one of my favorite types of colors, a mushroom taupe-y color that I think is a neutral and can be worn for all occasions. I would wear this for a job interview, without hesitation.

The formula on this was nice and smooth, easy to apply. The bottle is small, .27 ounce, but the brush was not too tiny for my big ‘ol nail beds. People with smaller nail beds will really like this brush.
These pictures are all 2 coats with a quick dry top coat. If I really wanted I could have used only 1 coat, a thicker application would be needed but coverage for this polish is awesome. I prefer to use thinner coats and I guess I’ve just made it a habit to always show 2 coats on my blog.

I have been trying out a few of these “gel effect” nail polishes to see how they hold up over time. I will have a post coming soon comparing the “gel effect” and showing the time frame each have for wear. I think it will be interesting and I’m curious to see how this one holds up. Stay tuned!

FINAL THOUGHTS: Nails, Inc GEL EFFECT polish has a nice formula, great coverage, easy to apply and I think the color is pretty. So far so good, but time will tell!

Ciate Cookies and Cream from the monthly mani set, this was number 21, the same number drawn this week. This is a great color for an off white or winter white. The formula on these mini Ciate nail polishes is nice, very smooth. The bottles are small, .16 oz; less than one-quarter of the size of a normal .5 oz bottle. With the small bottles come a small brush. Even though the brush is small, it’s not bad to work with. It seems to pick up a good amount of polish. I did have to go back in for a couple of nails, but no big deal.

20140308-235804.jpg
For complete coverage 3 coats are needed. I’ve labeled the nails I used 3 coats and the one where I used 2 coats. Even though the coverage wasn’t that great, again no big deal.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON CIATE: I know as a nail blogger I’m not supposed to feature (or like) the Ciate brand of polish. I think we all know about the cease and desist debacle of a couple of years ago. I am sympathetic to the bloggers who were embarrassed by the brand. That being said I do like this polish. My use has been limited as I received the monthly mani kit as a gift and I love, love it. As with most things I love and adore I don’t want to use them. I get joy just from looking at the kit, I take the bottles out and look at them, look up swatches on line and put them back in their “window”. Now that we all know I’m a geek, I have decided to use and love, love my favorite polishes I adore.

Just what is the Nail Polish Lottery Club?
For more information on the Nail Polish Lottery Club please go to our Facebook page here.. We don’t have any rules but there are some guidelines, you will find those here.
If you still have questions, just let me know in the comments below or on the FB page. It’s a lot of fun and I enjoy seeing everyone’s manicures for the week. Everyone is welcome to join, even if you can only post once in a while, we still welcome you!
For Week 60 of the #NPLClub the number was 280. Now even I do not have 280 un-tried nail polishes in my collection, so I used #10 (2+8=10).

This week I went to my Ciate Advent Calendar. This was a gift to me from my friend DianaI love this set so much, I seldom use it. I love looking at it and often times I take all the polish out, just to look at and then put it back. I don’t know about you, but I tend to not use the things I love the most? I’ve decided I’m going to use the things I love and this week with #10 being drawn, it was a perfect time to try the Ciate minis. Behind door number 10 was:

20140228-104117.jpg
Ladylike Luxe from Ciate #059 is a gold metallic polish, that is really on the yellow side. Now, we all know how I feel about orange and yellow on my nails and this was no exception. It honestly makes my hands look green. The days are gloomy here, so the pictures do not do the polish justice.

20140228-104407.jpg
I applied Ladylike Luxe over the nude nail polishes I had on for my “Spring 2014 Trends” post I did a couple of days ago. This is only one coat, no top coat. It has been my experience that 1 coat works best for metallic polish anyway. I’ve worn this since then and the only sign of tip wear is a small amount on my pointer finger, which is to be expected as I have been typing quite a bit the last couple of days. I have been trying to catch up on my posts and emails. 📥 📤

20140228-105302.jpg
The Ciate Advent Calendar came with 24 different nail polish, 4 bottles of the micro beads for a caviar manicure and a funnel. The bottles of polish are mini size, 5 ml. A regular size nail polish is 15 ml, so these are 1/3rd the normal size. Even with the mini size, the brush was full and easy to use. The formula, although metallic was also easy to use. Sometimes a metallic formula can get messy, kind of like trying to paint chewing gum onto your nails. Not so with Ladylike Luxe. Or maybe I’ve just learned not to work the metallic formula so much? Either way, the formula was fine.
Each bottle is tied with a black ribbon, which makes for very cute packaging. You all know I’m a sucker for cute packaging. 😘
I look forward to trying more of the Ciate from this adorable set. Thanks again to Dianafor sending this to me. It truly is one of the most thoughtful, nicest gifts I’ve ever received. You’re the best! 😘 😘 😘

As usual, I try to show a family picture with my Nail Polish Lottery Club posts, because we really are just one big happy family.. Scrolling through my pictures I came across this one from Drew’s birthday dinner last week. This is Drew and Jack. Jack adores Drew, and vice versa. Seeing Jack and Drew together reminds me how fast the little shits darlings grow up. Honestly seems like yesterday, Drew was the age Jack is now, 3 1/2. Some days I miss my babies so much and would give anything to have them back as babies and then I will spend time with them and realize my kids have grown into mature, funny, great responsible adults. They are my favorite people on the planet, I couldn’t be more proud of them all (of course, this includes Ashley)!

Jo’mina from Illamasqua was the choice for me for Week 55 of the Nail Polish Lottery Club. I haven’t participated for about a month in the club, and I have missed everyone so much. This week I wanted to participate and I did paint my nails a couple of days ago. I think this polish is holding up good, even after a couple of days it still looks fresh. I love this color and the formula was great. I really don’t know why I haven’t tried this one before now because this falls right in my category for a favorite polish.

For more information about the club and for the guidelines go to our Facebook page for all the details. Of course I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have, as well.

My son Drew and his girlfriend Shawna. These 2 have helped me so much in the past month. They took me shopping this week end. I appreciate their help so much. They are both so busy with work and school. Drew is working nights so he doesn’t get a lot of rest. He still finds the time to help me though.

**UPDATE:**. I originally wrote quite a long post about Julep as a brand of nail polish that I don’t care for. I’ve decided to remove most of this post because I do not like writing such negative posts about a company. I’m sure you all know I don’t care for the company Julep, however they do make a nice polish. **

Laura from Julep was the polish picked by using random.org this week. Laura from Julep is the last of my un-tried Julep nail polish.

💅 As always, thanks for stopping by.

Remeber my 50 Shades of Sunday series? . Well, that was so last year and I wanted something different, then my friend Diana came up with the idea of using random.org to pick her nail polish for the week. Of course I thought it would be lots of fun and I jumped right in with her. This is how The Nail Polish Lottery Club was formed.

We all want to wear our polish. We don’t want to hoard it or collect it. This way, once a week we will all wear an un-tried polish. It will be fun to see what every one is wearing. We will all wear the same number, but we will all have a different polish because we will be working from our own list of un-tried polish.
These are the guide lines of the Nail Polish Lottery Club. I hope you will join with us, it will be fun!

Nail Polish Lottery Guidelines
The Nail Polish Lottery Club is a fun way to go through your unused nail polish.
The club was founded by Judi from https://middleagedbeautyqueen.wordpress.com/ and Diana from http://dianasmakeupworld.wordpress.com/

It’s very easy to join so here are some guidelines on how it works:
What is the basic idea behind the Nail Polish Lottery Club?
You will need to create a list of your unused nail polish and assign a number to each polish.
Each week we will draw a random number X on random.org. Then you will wear number X on your list.
Who can join?
The club is open to anyone! If you have an Youtube channel or blog that is great, but it’s not mandatory.
Who do I contact to join?
Send a message to Diana on either one of these platforms:
E-mail: dianasmakeupworld@gmail.com
Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/dianasmakeupworld/videos?view=0
Twitter: @dianamakeupblog
How often do I have to participate?
You can participate weekly, but if you are too busy just participate when you can, even if it is only once!
When is the lucky number selected?
Each week’s number will be selected on random.org on Mondays at 8PM GMT.
e.g. our first lucky draw is January the 7th 8PM GMT
Where is the result posted?
If you are participating Diana will e-mail you the result, but she will also post on Twitter and Facebook.
When do I have to publish the results on my blog/Youtube channel?
Everyone who is part of the NPL Club will post the “results” on Sunday that week. You have Monday to Sunday to apply the nail polish and to film/photograph the results.
What labeling and description should I use for my video/blog post?
Please use the label: Nail Polish Lottery Club [date].
e.g. for our first draw the label will be Nail Polish Lottery club 13/01/2013
Please link the following club information in your video:
Nail Polish Lottery Club guidelines link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PJtYOL0VJjvrrfDVgK-3GSnjCcuyRDdj0Gb9IZKMjQA/edit
Nail Polish Lottery Club Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/NailPolishLotteryClub
Nail Polish Lottery Club Twitter hashtag: #nplclub
What if I don’t have as many nail polishes as the number picked?
Let’s say you have 30 nail polishes on your list and this week’s lucky number is 199.
Then you can wear 1+9+9=19. If 19 is still too large then you can wear 1+9=10, and if that is too large you can wear 1+0=1
What if I don’t have a blog or Youtube channel?
If you wish, send a photo to Judi at Judi.tierney@yahoo.com and she will post the results on her blog and on our Facebook page.
How can I maintain my nail polish list?
You could keep the list on paper, but we recommend you keep an electronic format – ideally a spread sheet.
You can:
Use MS Excel on your computer
Use Google Drive to create an online spread sheet: https://drive.google.com
We recommend an electronic format because this way you can easily remove nail polish from the list once you used it. Also, you can access your list on the go and add any new purchases.
What about the club’s Facebook page?
We will post the draw results on Facebook each week. We’d also like to post everyone’s photos/videos/blog posts, with your permission. Don’t forget to like us on Facebook!
