This is Diana from Zoya. Zoya is not my favorite nail polish company but when they come out with the name of one of my favorite people on the planet, I had to buy it. This was the case with Diana (Dee-Anna).

IMG_3234.JPG
My friend, who I met on the internet, is a smart, gorgeous young woman. I have a lot of respect for her, and I enjoy so very much our “conversations” by email. I have learned a lot from her and without getting too mushy I just think the world of Diana , the person, not the polish.

IMG_3234-0.JPG
I bought Diana for Diana so she could have it in her collection. I think I forgot to mention she lives in LONDON. At about this time is when the Royal Mail sent her a package back to her. This package contained some nail polish I’d asked her to send. They also gave her a strict scolding about mailing banned items. You can imagine how badly I felt.

IMG_3236.JPG
I have been hanging onto Diana thinking there may come a time when things will ease up but recently I, myself received a scolding letter, with no package, and no promise of the package being returned. But I receive a very scary letter about mailing banned items.
I have never been a huge fan of red nail polish and I don’t own a lot of it. I was surprised at well I like this color on me. This may be my new favorite red. I promise, if somehow I can get some to my friend, I will, but in the mean time I will enjoy this bottle of Diana .

Of course I had to show this pic of my beautiful friend Diana. She is just as smart as she is gorgeous. A rare woman indeed and one I’m proud to say is my friend.

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by!

The number for this week was 79, I have a confession to make regarding the numbers. My google spreadsheet quit working for me quite some time ago. My friend Diana sent the original to me, and between my health issues and her being on holiday I haven’t had a chance to ask how I can fix it. I have just been using my nail polishes willy nilly, no rhyme nor reason. πŸ’‹πŸ’‹
It’s not nearly as much fun as the Nail Polish Lottery Club and I hope to be back on track this week. (I think I have a plan to fix the problem, remember I said I think).
If you would like more information about the club, please go to our Facebook page here. We’d love to have you, all are welcome!
Now for this weeks “pick”

Porchester Square from Nails, Inc GEL NAIL POLISH EFFECT . This is a fairly new line from Nails, Inc claiming the benefits of a gel manicure, without the gel or the special light needed for curing the polish. The bottle says it has a new ‘plasticizer’ technology and it allows for plumping of the nail. I’m not sure about the plumping part, or why that would be a selling point, but I absolutely love the idea of a gel polish without the fuss. 😘

20140407-000702.jpg
Porchester Square is a great color. Nails, Inc sells this color in their regular line too. It’s one of my favorite types of colors, a mushroom taupe-y color that I think is a neutral and can be worn for all occasions. I would wear this for a job interview, without hesitation.
>

20140407-001923.jpg
The formula on this was nice and smooth, easy to apply. The bottle is small, .27 ounce, but the brush was not too tiny for my big ‘ol nail beds. People with smaller nail beds will really like this brush.
These pictures are all 2 coats with a quick dry top coat. If I really wanted I could have used only 1 coat, a thicker application would be needed but coverage for this polish is awesome. I prefer to use thinner coats and I guess I’ve just made it a habit to always show 2 coats on my blog.

I have been trying out a few of these “gel effect” nail polishes to see how they hold up over time. I will have a post coming soon comparing the “gel effect” and showing the time frame each have for wear. I think it will be interesting and I’m curious to see how this one holds up. Stay tuned!

FINAL THOUGHTS: Nails, Inc GEL EFFECT polish has a nice formula, great coverage, easy to apply and I think the color is pretty. So far so good, but time will tell!

Just what is the Nail Polish Lottery Club?

If you still have questions, just let me know in the comments below or on the FB page. It’s a lot of fun and I enjoy seeing everyone’s manicures for the week. Everyone is welcome to join, even if you can only post once in a while, we still welcome you!
For Week 60 of the #NPLClub the number was 280. Now even I do not have 280 un-tried nail polishes in my collection, so I used #10 (2+8=10).

20140228-103831.jpg
This week I went to my Ciate Advent Calendar. This was a gift to me from my friend DianaI love this set so much, I seldom use it. I love looking at it and often times I take all the polish out, just to look at and then put it back. I don’t know about you, but I tend to not use the things I love the most? I’ve decided I’m going to use the things I love and this week with #10 being drawn, it was a perfect time to try the Ciate minis. Behind door number 10 was:

20140228-104117.jpg
Ladylike Luxe from Ciate #059 is a gold metallic polish, that is really on the yellow side. Now, we all know how I feel about orange and yellow on my nails and this was no exception. It honestly makes my hands look green. The days are gloomy here, so the pictures do not do the polish justice.

20140228-104407.jpg
I applied Ladylike Luxe over the nude nail polishes I had on for my “Spring 2014 Trends” post I did a couple of days ago. This is only one coat, no top coat. It has been my experience that 1 coat works best for metallic polish anyway. I’ve worn this since then and the only sign of tip wear is a small amount on my pointer finger, which is to be expected as I have been typing quite a bit the last couple of days. I have been trying to catch up on my posts and emails. πŸ“₯ πŸ“€

20140228-105302.jpg
The Ciate Advent Calendar came with 24 different nail polish, 4 bottles of the micro beads for a caviar manicure and a funnel. The bottles of polish are mini size, 5 ml. A regular size nail polish is 15 ml, so these are 1/3rd the normal size. Even with the mini size, the brush was full and easy to use. The formula, although metallic was also easy to use. Sometimes a metallic formula can get messy, kind of like trying to paint chewing gum onto your nails. Not so with Ladylike Luxe. Or maybe I’ve just learned not to work the metallic formula so much? Either way, the formula was fine.
Each bottle is tied with a black ribbon, which makes for very cute packaging. You all know I’m a sucker for cute packaging. 😘
I look forward to trying more of the Ciate from this adorable set. Thanks again to Dianafor sending this to me. It truly is one of the most thoughtful, nicest gifts I’ve ever received. You’re the best! 😘 😘 😘

As usual, I try to show a family picture with my Nail Polish Lottery Club posts, because we really are just one big happy family.. Scrolling through my pictures I came across this one from Drew’s birthday dinner last week. This is Drew and Jack. Jack adores Drew, and vice versa. Seeing Jack and Drew together reminds me how fast the little shits darlings grow up. Honestly seems like yesterday, Drew was the age Jack is now, 3 1/2. Some days I miss my babies so much and would give anything to have them back as babies and then I will spend time with them and realize my kids have grown into mature, funny, great responsible adults. They are my favorite people on the planet, I couldn’t be more proud of them all (of course, this includes Ashley)!

Jo’mina from Illamasqua was the choice for me for Week 55 of the Nail Polish Lottery Club. I haven’t participated for about a month in the club, and I have missed everyone so much. This week I wanted to participate and I did paint my nails a couple of days ago. I think this polish is holding up good, even after a couple of days it still looks fresh. I love this color and the formula was great. I really don’t know why I haven’t tried this one before now because this falls right in my category for a favorite polish.

20140127-131143.jpg
For more information about the club and for the guidelines go to our Facebook page for all the details. Of course I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have, as well.

My son Drew and his girlfriend Shawna. These 2 have helped me so much in the past month. They took me shopping this week end. I appreciate their help so much. They are both so busy with work and school. Drew is working nights so he doesn’t get a lot of rest. He still finds the time to help me though.

Now for Week 49 my pick is a new polish I’d just bought so I was anxious to try it anyway.

20131216-132357.jpg
Italian Leather by Revlon Parfumerie is a pretty green with a golden shimmer. When dry it is supposed to smell like Italian Leather and it does, for a little while anyway. It smells like one of my favorite old boyfriends so I liked the smell immediately and wish it lasted a bit longer.

20131216-132828.jpg

20131216-132839.jpg
Italian Leather has a golden sheen and as you can see this is one that definetly transfers to the nail. This is a new line for Revlon and I wish I would have taken more pictures of the display. The display is divided into different categories of scent. There is a manly scent **ahhh, for the good ol days****, a feminine and a floral section. Italian Leather was $7.99 and comes in a .4 oz bottle. The bottle is a little square one with a ball for the topper and brush.

20131216-133318.jpg
I had no issues with the formula, these pics are with 2 coats and no top coat. I like this polish and I’m sure ill wear it again and again, especially since it does smell, even for a minute, of a favorite boyfriend. I had a lot of boyfriends in my almost 60 years but not so many were favorites when all was said and done.

Have you seen these new displays? What do you think of them? I’d love to know!

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by.

20131208-122804.jpg
Anemone from Borghese is a pretty pink color and I think the name matches the flower exactly. On the bottle it says it is a Rapido Fast Dry Nail Lacquer and I think if it was my company I would remove that statement because this particular bottle was no where near Rapido. I ended up using a fast dry top coat so I could go to bed last night, I was tired of waiting for these to dry. But once dry, I think they are pretty.

20131208-123357.jpg
The formula for Anemone was a bit thin and what I would think a glaze polish would be. It has that sort of quality to it. I don’t own any glaze polishes, this is just what I think they might be like. The coverage on the first coat was very light as well as the second coat but when it was finally dry the coverage is okay. I can see a but of VNL but not so bad that I’d put on a third coat.

If not for the Nail Polish Lottery Club I would have probably never tried this one, and I like it and I’m sure ill wear it more often, especially in the spring. So thanks once again to the #NPLClub for a good pick this week!

20131013-111147.jpg
Avery from Julep was my pick for Week 40 of the Nail Polish Lottery Club. I may have cheated just a bit, as the number chosen this week was 49. Number 49 on my un-tried polish list was Julep Laura, which is a dull army green. Right next to it was Avery, as you can see a bright pink. So, since it is October, and as we all know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month I decided to use Avery in honor of all those afflicted with this terrible disease. I’m sure you will all forgive me this one little “cheat”. Although I am not a fan of Julep the company, I do think their nail polishes are very nice, especially the cream finishes. I do like my choice of Avery for Week 40 of the # NPLClub.

20131013-111811.jpg
The formula for Avery was very thin and after 3 coats the dreaded VNL was present and we can’t have that. So I used a Rimmel one coat color, in Posh Pink and when that was dry I added just 1 coat of the Avery , and voila! problem solved. I did not add a top coat as I like the finish of this bright pink, not quite matte but not real shiny either, it’s different and you all know I like different. This will definetly be in my rotation of polishes to wear as I am pleasantly surprised by Avery, even though it is from Julep. πŸ‘Ώ

20131013-112254.jpg
Completely off topic but I wanted to show you my new centerpiece for my dining room table. I can’t remember where I saw this idea but I loved it and it was very easy to do. I cut the top off the pumpkin, cleaned the seeds out and then I used a red solo cup for the vase to hold the flowers. I think it looks great and it will be easy to change out the flowers, although I’ve had these flowers for a week today and they still look good. I think next time I will cut the flowers about an inch shorter than these, and I think I will use 2 bunches of flowers instead of one, I think that will look a lot better.
What do you think?
