I don’t exactly have a holiday posting put together but I thought you might like to see some of my favorites for 2014.
(Please note: Some if these May have been sent as a PR sample but not all. Either way, all opinions are my own.

CHANEL May will always be my first pick and of course Black Pearl runs a close second.

Raisin Rage has always been a favorite, this color may seem like a plain maroon but it has so much more going for it, an interesting color. It is an exact dupe to CHANEL June from their Spring line a couple of years ago.
Naughty is an old favorite for many years and for many of you. This was first released by Revlon as Perplexed but was re-promoted as Naughty. This is also an exact dupe for CHANEL Paradoxial.

Take the A Train from Deborah Lippmann’s new Fall 2014 the New York Marquee collection has a luxe chrome finish that is brilliant. I love a metallic finish on nail polish but most metallic polishes are like trying to paint gum onto your nails, but not with this new new collection from Deborah Lippmann. The formula is easy to apply, dries fast and smooth leaving you with stunning nails. Deborah Lippmann calls this the “luxe chrome” finish. A perfect name for it.

Artful Dodger is one of my favorite blue with a hint if green. So much fun to wear any time of year.

Primrose Picnic is another from Butter LONDON that I adore. It is a pretty pink, very bright and cheerful.

The Miracle Gel System. This works so easy, no light to mess with and the results are outstanding. My only complaint and this is just me, I live in such a small town I cannot get enough of these. I have around 400 bottles of polish and I would trade most of them to use only the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel System.. Please try this if you can find it. I feel very confident you would like this system.

Drew of course is my favorite Zoya. As is Drew my favorite son:

And also from Zoya, equally favorite is Ashley, my girl.

(Don’t you just love that smile of Ashley’s ?). I do, and I miss it so very badly, every single day.

A personal note: I have not been posting much lately due to some personal issues. As most of you know my Mom passed away about 18 months ago and recently my Dad passed away. It is an adjustment that gets easier every day. I want to thank all of you who sent cards and emails, they mean a lot during these times that we all have to go through.
One of my “internet friends” (we play scrabble and Words with Friends) has been such a help with her words of wisdom and to pull me out of my funk by making me realize I’m not the only one to lose loved ones. Silly as it sounds those words have made me pick myself up and stop feeling sorry for myself and ready to move forward. So enough of that! I’m back. Thank you for your support and I look forward to an awesome 2015, how about you?

I couldn’t complete a “favorites posting” without including my still all time favorite:

Of course this is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure (CSM) in the color Commander in Chic. Yes, after all this time, I’m still in love with the Commander! πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜

πŸ’… As always, thanks for stopping by!

As most of you know my beautiful Mom passed away in July of 2013. Some days it seems like a lifetime ago and then days Ike today it seems like last week.
One of my favorite times with her was giving her manicures. I did this once a week as she had the fastest growing fingernails of anyone I ever saw. She always had the most beautiful nails. After her seizures she just wanted them cut back with a no muss, no fuss approach so that is what I did. I would brings several bottles of nail polish for her to pick out and she always liked the brightest colors. I think it was because she had glaucoma and. macular-degeneration, so the bright colors were easiest for her to see .
Here are are her favorites:

Barry M Bright Pink was one of her favorites. She often remarked on how well it lasted. Her most favorite color was purple.

She especially liked the Catrice brand out of Germany, which is a great polish and if you have a chance to pick so up I hope you do. Mom’s favorite was “Heavy Metallilac” and “Even More Heavy Metalilac”, which are both a gorgeouse purple duo-chrome. Thank you to my friend Carla for sending these to me. I also love Heavy Metalilac but can’t quite bring myself to wear it just yet. Soon…

Since the nut doesn’t far too far away from the tree, she also loved her some CHANEL polish…

The other thing my Mom loved was her kids and Grandkids. She wore this one for her great-granddaughter Audrey. She would often times ask me to bring this one for her. More for the name than the color. As you probably know this is called “For Audrey” from China Glaze. This was made to be the exact color of a Tiffany’s box.

Although Mom wasn’t there for Jilly’s wedding, she was in spirit. She helped Jilly decide which polish to wear. Not only did Jilly wear this polish but she had all her bridal wear it as well. I think it was a great choice.

Happy Birthday Mom. You will never be forgotten.

πŸ’…As always, thanks for stopping by!

Today is the beginning of Lent. What are you giving up for Lent? If anything?. As a Catholic the idea of giving up something for Lent is ingrained and for me it marks the start of spring. I do not whine, cry, pine, or bitch abut Spring until Lent. So now that Lent is here, let the bitching’ begin!. I’m pining after some Spring!
Okay enough about that. What am I giving up for Lent? Since I have been on a buying spree that doesn’t seem to show any signs of letting up, I am giving up buying nail polish. Same thing I gave up last year.

I was going to do a green and blue crazy manicure. The first thing I did was gather up all my blue and green colors. I have enough blue. I have enough green. I like those colors separate and I like them together. But I did not come up with any combinations that I liked. This is what I came up with.

Sally Hansen Kwik-Dri one in blue, one in green, and one in pink. I like these combined. What do you think?
🌟🌟🌟 I really like the SH Kwik-Dri but I am only giving them 3 stars. They do dry quick and the colors are pretty, but they are a bit streaky and way thick. My problem with thick nail polish is I start to pick at it and then pretty soon it’s all picked off and then I will start to chew my nails, I know, disgusting, that’s why I don’t like thick polish.. The more I think of it, the more I should take a star away, but I won’t.
πŸ’° πŸŽ‰ πŸ‘Don’t forget about my giveaway going in now. Even though I ask you to name the colors of my manicure this is a random drawing and one winner will be chosen by <a href="http://Rafflecopter “>Rafflecopter.

A little more than a year ago I started this blog. I am so thankful for all my followers and for all of you who leave comments and for the support you’ve shown me. I am also so thankful for my family and my friends who have also shown me more support of this little blog than I imagined. I get a kick out of my friend Jud mentioning something that I’d written on here. And I appreciate that he goes on Google to see who comes up first in nail polish searches and tells me what I should do..
I love that Jilly and Ashley read my blog, once in while because if not for them, I would not have started this. And it is because of them, I will never stop.

Ashley is on the left and my beautiful daughter Jilly is on the right. For the record, one more time, Ashley is not my daughter. But she is my girl. I raised her along with her Dad and her step-mom.
I have 2 kids, Drew and Jilly. They are my life and the most interesting, funny, smart, accomplished people I know.

And look how cute they are!

Again thank you for all the love and support you all show me!!
πŸ’…As always, thanks for stopping by.

πŸ’…3⃣4⃣TOTAL BRANDS TESTED over a 5 month period from May thru September.

πŸ’…US Brands NOT tested: Dior, Rimmell, NyC, Julie G, YSL, LE Mer Beaute, Elf, Pure Ice, Barielle, Nailtique, Sephora by OPI, Nicole by OPI , the Balm, Milani, Lancomme, Laura Mercier, Guerlain, Piggy Polish,

I often get asked what is the best brand of nail polish. Because of that, I have been working all summer on comparing different brands of nail polish. I compared over 28 brands of nail polish, all available in the US. Meaning this comparison of brands does not include any Barry M or other brands only available in the UK. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure (CSM) is #2 on my list of TopTen nail polish by brand. In this picture is Greige Gardens (GG) and Commander in Chic (CiC) in one of half & half manicures I like to do. This is my favorite combination of polishes/colors to use for that. Any body who knows me for 5 minutes knows that CiC is my all time favorite polish ever. If I had to have only one polish for the rest of my life, I would be perfectly happy with CiC.

By beloved CiC. Such a great color, and there so many dupes for this color it is ridiculous. A few that I know of are: Essie Merino Cool, Sephora by OPI Metro Chic, L’Oreal Greyt Expectations, Wet n Wild Mega Last Wet Cement are all pretty much dead on dupes. Then there are a whole other bunch that are similar but I won’t go I to those.

This is Greige Gardens It’s a great polish that looks gray but when you apply it, in certain lights it looks blue.

This is Pedal to the Medal. I adore this color and I’m not big on metallics but this one is special. It has a lilac cast to it that makes it so pretty in all lights but especially when the sun hits it OMG, I had to stop my car just to take a picture. If I ever win the lottery, or I should say, when I win the lottery I am going to have my car painted with this nail polish. How pretty would that be?

I only had 4 CSM in my collection. In my area they cost $7.49 which is a lot of money for me. I would buy them when they were on a BOGO sale. Then I found a set of 5 for $5.99 at Ross one day. I got Lavender Cloud, Summer Plum, Anenome of Mine, Sequin Scandal and a backup for my beloved CiC! πŸ’— Then just last week Walgreens were clearing out the CSM and they were all $1.78! πŸ’° So, you all know what I did! Yep! These are what I got

Thinking of Blue. My new favorite blue. LOVE this one. πŸ’—

All Fired Up, a gorgeous bright coral. πŸ’—

Mudslide, a neutral with some interst. I’d been wanting Mudslide for quite some time. πŸ’—

Plum Luck. Perfect for this fall, kind of a mix between plum, maroon and brown. Interesting. πŸ’—

These are my new ones, that we’re Only $1.78 each!!! πŸ’—πŸ’°
But, let’s get back to my review of CSM and why it made #2 on the list. The formula is consistent with this brand, it is a perfect formula, no glooping , no runny- ness, no pooling on the sides of your nail. This polish dries pretty fast. I like the bottle and I love the wide flat brush. πŸ‘ I am a fan of the wide flat brush. I’ve recently learned that for those of you that do not like this brush, if you would wipe off the brush both flat wise but then again on each side prior to painting, you will like the brush better. So, those of you that don’t like it, please try that method **cough** Diana, and maybe you will like it better.

That’s what the brush looks like after wiping both flat sides first then the other sides. I hope it works better for those that don’t care for it. πŸ’…

Lavender Cloud, who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? Not me. I love this white polish with just a hint of lavender. CSM is formulated so that you don’t need a base coat or a top coat, hence the name Complete Salon Manicure, I must say the last few days I have been going without a top coat and I have had no problems with shine, tip wear or chipping. Even though I always use my Nail Envy from OPI as a base coat and will continue to do so. I would especially wear a base coat along with my Nail Envy when wearing the dark blue and the black polishes, not just from this line, but any polish brand.
One of the things I’m looking forward to with CSM is a collaboration with Alexander Wang that will be coming out , soon I think. I am anxious to see what colors he comes up with for this line. He is such a great, cutting edge designer, I feel he lends real credibility to this drug store brand called Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure.. If you haven’t tried this brand yet, I suggest you do, and I think if you tried my beloved Commander in Chic πŸ’— , I bet you would also have to say it is one of your favorites. 😘
Those all the reasons this brand received 5/5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me in my scoring of the different brands. It’s a great brand! πŸ’—

As always, thanks for stopping by. #1 is next! Are you excited? Any guesses? Let me know in the comment section. I love hearing from you guys. 😘. Mwaaah!

5⃣0⃣4⃣9⃣Shades of Sunday!
Disclaimer: For those of you new to my blog, this series is a way for me to wear a polish, in my collection, that for whatever reason I have never worn before. Sadly there are quite a few polishes which would fit the bill. Each Sunday I will wear a polish for a couple of days at least, to give a good test run. Sometimes they make it 2 days,πŸ‘ sometimes they don’t.πŸ‘Ž.

This week I have on Sally Hansen’s Good to Grape. It is a straight up purple with a cream finish. This is in the Complete Salon Manicure series. The bottle is nice because it is very stable to work with, also very recognizable and I πŸ’— L-O-V-E the brush. It is a thin, flat, wide brush, as opposed to a fat, thin pointy brush.

The β˜€brush is curved ever so slightly so that it fits perfectly on my nail bed. I have no doubt that a woman invented and designed this brush. β˜€I don’t know why Sally Hansen does not use this brush for all their polish. Maybe that is part of keeping the price of the Complete Salon Manicure formula at a premium. I don’t know, the only thing I do know is I πŸ’— L-O-V-E this brush. β˜€. I do like this polish and the color is fine. I’m not sure why I’ve never worn it before now, it’s a great color any time of year.

This is my beloved πŸ’“Commander in ChicπŸ’“ from the same line. For dupes of C in C think of Wet n Wild Wet Cement, Essie Merino Cool, Sephora by OPI Metro Chic, L’Oreal Greyt Expectations, Revlon Stormy Night….and so many others. πŸ’“To me Commander in Chic was my first love of that taupe-y, purple-y, muddy kind of color that so many people love as well.

πŸ’“Another of my first ‘loves’. This was me and Mark Harlow at the Blue Mountain Music Festival, held at the arboretum at the University of Idaho. This was probably 45 years ago. I don’t think we slept for 3 days? 3 days of music, rain, mud, more music, more rain, more mud. When I went home my mom was happy to see me, until she smelled me, she made me take a bath right then and there. Don’t I look just the same! Ha! This picture makes me happy! πŸ˜„

thanks for stopping by, that also makes me happy, stupid happy! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

20120729-214351.jpg This is Golden Conduct by Sally Hansen Magnetic. This is I thin coat and to be honest with you, I think this is the prettiest this polish looks.
The bottle has a unique lid that comes off the top and has 2 little ” feet” for lack of a better term. The little feet help you hold the magnet part over the polish with out touching the polish. It works very well that way.

The directions say to add one thin coat on each ten nails, let dry and then one nail at a time use the magnet by placing a rather thick coat on the nail. Then using the little feet, hold the magnet as close to the nail as possible without actually touching the nail.

It only takes a few seconds for the ‘design’ to come out. The little feet work great in keeping the magnet off the nail. I wonder what it would look like with a bit of a swirl.

20120729-215236.jpg this was a heavy swirl action, it looks like it lightened up the polish quite a bit.

20120729-215401.jpg. This was using the magnet feet on the end of the nail.
I still think this polish look best with one thin coat, no magnet swirls.

This polish was a gift, sent to me by my friend Diane from @catwmagick, thank you so much Diane for sending me this polish. It has been interesting to experiment with the magnets, trying the different swirls and what not. My conclusion on the polish is I think it looks great with one thin coat. In that one coat the coverage is excellent, no VNL. I will wear this polish to death this fall, so pretty. So, my question to you is: do you like this polish with the swirl effect or plain?

Thanks so much for stopping by.πŸ’…
