While commenting on one of my favorite blogs, BeautyObsessed tonight I realized there was quite a bit I needed to update here.

First off, No Repeat November Challenge! Yes, I participated. The idea was to go for the month of November without repeating any make up products. Since I only have a couple mascara & foundations this applied mostly to blush, eyeshadow and lipstick, for me. And of course nail polish, that was not a problem.
Each day as I did my make up I would put what I used in an empty Glossybox on my counter. That’s the picture above. At the end of the month I had 2 boxes overflowing. I was glad to see this challenge come to an end because I did not like my make up in boxes, on the counter. I like it put away. So I was happy on Saturday morning December 1st to put everything away. Nice and neat, that’s how I like it.😘

What I learned from this exercise is how much I love my Burberry eyeshadow in Rosewood,on the left, and my Dallas bronzer from Benefit. I found myself more than once wanting to reach for them again, but I was a good girl. Funny but I’ve hit pan on both of these items! The No Repeat November Challenge was the brain child of Lauren at Red Head PHD I want to thank Lauren for including me in this exercise. It was nice to have something different to do, and some of my friends participated as well, so it was a fun little challenge and I learned something, which is always a good thing.

I did buy a ZoyaDream Box. This was on sale for $20, free shipping. I ordered one of their pre-made boxes which includes Edyta, Daul and Fei Fei. I am giving this box to my son’s girlfriend for Christmas. During Thanksgiving she pulled me aside and asked me to help her with her nails. I think she will love these colors and I think she will really appreciate this box.

I’ve also gone a little Deborah Lippmann crazy! Nordstrom had a great special, buy 2 get 1 free for DL polish. I bought On the Beach, which I blogged yesterday and Mermaid’s Dream. For the free polish I picked up another Mermaid’s Dream for my beautiful friend Diana. I knew she didn’t have Mermaid’s Dream, and I honestly think we are the last 2 on the planet to have this polish. I see why everyone is crazy about it. It is so, so pretty!

While surfing around the Internet I came across this Deborah Lippmann called Sweet Dreams. I fell in love with it and bought it from HSN. Not my most favorite place to shop but I felt the price was reasonable and shipping was fast.πŸ˜„

Then of course Julep has been having Great Flash Sales and One Day Only bargains. If you havent gone to their website to register, use the link and register, then you can be a part of these sales. I get an email from them every morning and they are pulling out all their best right now. I honestly think this is the best time to buy Julep nail polish. So I bought Alfre, a pretty purple-y metallic polish. I haven’t used it yet but I’ve been wanting this one for a while now. The real reason I bought the polish, along with some other goodies?

This phone case was free with my order. My dad thinks I had it special made for me, it does fit me though! πŸ’… I love it and I’m loving my new phone. I got the phone for free when I extended my contract with Sprint.
Also, I participated in the Bloggers Secret Santa, which I will tell you more about, soon. AND, from BeautyObsessed I won a Make Up Forever Giveaway. I’ll definetly tell you about that when I receive.
I haven’t told you about the new Venique that was sent to me for review or the Rescue Beauty Lounge polish I purchased. I will, soon. There might also be some CHANEL involved. πŸ˜„
Shwooooo…. I think that’s all, let me know in the comments what you’ve been up to!
πŸ’…As always, thanks for stopping by.. ( I know there are typos, I promise to fix tomorrow )

I often get asked what is the best brand of nail polish. Because of that, I have been working all summer on comparing different brands of nail polish. I compared over 3⃣0⃣brands of nail polish, all available in the US. Meaning this comparison of brands does not include any Barry M or other brands only available in the UK. I scored the different brands using these 5 items of criteria: brush/bottle, formula, price, dry time, and wear. These are the items that are important to me in a nail polish. πŸ’…3⃣4⃣TOTAL BRANDS TESTED over a 5 month period from May thru September.

πŸ’…US Brands NOT tested: Dior, Rimmell, NyC, Julie G, YSL, LE Mer Beaute, Elf, Pure Ice, Barielle, Nailtique, Sephora by OPI, Nicole by OPI , the Balm, Milani, Lancomme, Laura Mercier, Guerlain, Piggy Polish,

I often get asked what is the best brand of nail polish. Because of that, I have been working all summer on comparing different brands of nail polish. I compared over 28 brands of nail polish, all available in the US. Meaning this comparison of brands does not include any Barry M or other brands only available in the UK. I scored the different brands using these 5 items of criteria: brush/bottle, formula, price, dry time, and wear. These are the items that are important to me in a nail polish. When I was finished there were 3 brands that had all 5/5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Venique Heel d’Orsay is one of my all time favorite polishes. Venique came in at #3 on my list and received 5/5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from my scoring system. Venique costs $7 for a half ounce bottle, which is what put it in the #3 position. The top 2 are cheaper is what I’m trying to say!

Cosmic Phenomenon from Venique. Venique is free of all the bad things a girl does not want in her nail polish. In fact, Venique is considered a natural nail polish and can be called that in salons in California. We all know how strict California can be about these things. Venique was launched just about a year ago, out of Southern California. They have a full line of 78 colors, all named for some type of shoe. Venique says a woman’s best accessory are shoes and nails. If a polish from Venique does not have a shoe reference then it is part of a limited edition collection. Such as Cosmic Phenomenon pictured above.

Whiskey Vamp is another of my favorite colors from Venique.

Step in My Blade is a pretty blue. I love this polish. When it dries it feels like glass. It is so hard to describe, but it is definitely different from any other polish I’ve worn.

9-5 Shoe, this is a pretty neutral and has a green cast to it. It is almost like a camouflage look to it. Really different, but I like it.

Mary Jane Pump is a bright blue red! I am loving the reds right now and this of course is a favorite.

Exotic Messenger, is a gorgeous pink! This is a deep, dirty pink! That’s the only way I can think to describe it. It’s not a perfect pink, it has a bit of a smoke to it, really pretty. Proceeds from the sale of this polish goes 100% to the BCRF ( Breast Cancer Research Fund).
Venique…Very Unique! That’s their line in their brochure they provided to me. One of the things that makes this polish so different is a unique blend of ingredients formulated allowing the polish to naturally flex with your nails. The top coat has an ingredient called Sil-Tek which allows flexing with the nail. I don’t know what it’s made of, but I know I really like this brand of polish. I only wish this polish was readily available so that everyone had a chance to try it, I think it would become a favorite of so many.

As you all know I have made a deal with a distributor and I can now sell nail polish. I can get any OPI, China Glaze or Venique polish. This kit is $15 for 2 bottles of polish and a mini top coat. The colors are Step in my Blade and Angelica Step. Let me know if you would like this kit. Also if you google search Venique images and you find a color you like, let me know and I can get it for you. All Venique are $7 a bottle. Which surprised me, the quality of this polish is up there with Deborah Lippmann and butter London.

In the interest of full disclosure: Venique has sent samples of their polish to me for review. I have an ongoing relationship with them and I hope to continue to receive samples for review as I appreciate them. That being said, because I have received “free” samples in no way clouds my judgement of this polish. If this was a crappy polish, I would say so. Well actually I most likely wouldn’t say anything at all if it was crappy. But those of you who have watched me on YT and read my blog from the beginning know that I love this polish and I said so long before I ever received any samples from them.

As always, thanks for stopping by! #2 on the list coming soon. What do you think it is? If you have a guess, leave it in the comment section below. πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

20120718-211114.jpgNow we’re talking’!. Side Walk Surfer is a pretty turquoise cream but look how gorgeous it is with a topcoat of Julep Portia. Love it!πŸ’—πŸ’˜πŸ’πŸ’“β€πŸ‘
I got Portia in one of my mystery boxes from Julep. Julep really is the best subscription service I have joined, IMO. When I joined I was thrilled to get a $5 off coupon, so my first box cost $14.99. Now, they have a great deal where for one cent, only one cent, no shipping, no handling, one cent charged on your credit/debit card, you get your intro box. The intro box has 2 polishes, a hand cream, or a glycolic scrub for your hands. They usually include extras, extras that you actually like, not like BirchBox, like an emery board, chocolate, cuticle oil, pedi cream, etc…. When you sign up you go through a little quiz to see what type of box you will get. If you don’t like what they pick for you, you can pick what you want. At all times, you pick what you want. If you don’t want anything, then you can skip. I am an American Beauty but some months I don’t care for the colors as much as what the It Girl has, so I can switch at any time, you always get what you want with Julep. No surprises. I like that. I would most definetly get the box for a penny, check it out, and see if you want to continue. Julep makes it so easy to cancel, skip, or even send to a friend, so really there is no losing on this deal. If you want to see what it’s about, you can go to Julep here. If you go through this link I do get credit for future boxes. If 2 people go through this link, and stay with the program for 1month, I get a free month and I would honestly appreciate it. But, if you don’t want to, that’s fine also. Use the code COLOR2012 to get your box for a penny.

20120718-212742.jpgThis is my Julep polish swatched onto a nail wheel. This is an old photo but you can see how pretty the colors are.

This is an old picture as well, but I love seeing my Julep polishes all lined up, like little soldiers.

Let me know if you decide to join, and what you think. I honestly don’t think you will be disappointed.

Thanks for stopping by.πŸ’—

20120712-122722.jpgThis is my left hand.
And this is my right hand.

What do we think? Like? Or not so much?

I think I like it but we’ll see if it lasts the day. I’m wanting to try the magnetic polish my friend Diane sent me. I like the color a lot better than I like the magnetic aspect of it.

I think it will be real pretty on.
Thanks to my friend Diane for sending this to me! You’re a doll! πŸ’—

I have been asked several times to do a comparison study of polish by brand. Well actually I have been asked what brand do I like the best? As I’ve never really done a comparative study of the brands I have spent the last several months doing just that.

As you can clearly see I have a crazy manicure going on right now. I’ve received 2 compliments on my nais today. No one has said what the hey? Which by the way this is day 2 of this crazy manicure and you can see some slight wear already starting. The Essie Play Date and my beloved Lavender Creme are showing slight bits of wear, but I’m not ready to hold it against them, just yet.

The other thing I noticed is how crazily similar OPI Strawberry Margarita is to Wet n Wild Lavender Creme.

I will check back with you in a couple days, as Operation Crazy Mani continues………
